It won't beat anything. It will get beat by a Camry.

Go buy a 350Z or G35 Coupe, that's more up your alley. You missed the point of the car.

Chill out Hercules: what is up with your psychotic inward aggression? The guy simply asked the question as to what cars the RX-8 can defeat with equal drivers and so on. Don't be so defensive. sheesh.

I think the RX-8 is a good enough car to make it a drivers race between 95% of the cars out there. When it comes to road course, mountain driving or AutoX, the RX-8 is very formidable. If you don't buy a sport car for some sporty driving, then exactly what's the point? If you are thinking of drag racing...... then I don't really give a damn.

Running someone and finding out for yourself is the best part! Don't cheat yourself out of the fun by trying to guess. The car is meant to be enjoyed, however you define the word automotively.

For 1/4 mile run, RX-8 should be better than the following cars in stock form:

IS 300
Miata
Celica GTS
Tiberon
Golf GTI V6
MB C230
Mini Cooper S
Matrix XRS
Sentra SE-V
BMW 330
All North American Mitsubishi cars except the EVO VIII
All Suzuki cars
All Kia cars

Try my question in a new thread which is more approriate:

Which car, in stock form, with a MSRP price tag same or lower that the car cannot beat?

Which car, in stock form, with a MSRP price tag same or lower than that of the RX-8 that RX-8 cannot beat in 0-60, quarter mile or handling?

- 350Z in the lowest model
- Dodge SRT-4 (0-60 & quarter mile only)

Anything else that you can think of?

WRX @ $25000 with a faster 0-60 and quarter mile. I have to agree, I think handling RX-8 is better.

I'll allow this, but if you're looking for a drag car, I doubt that the 8 is right for you. And please take it to the track; stoplight racing is just pure stupidity at work. Also if you're going to be magazine racers take into account the same car in different altitudes will yield faster and slower results. One last note is 3 or 4 tenths of a second really going to make that big of a difference to you?....

I guess the Bosses didnt like the fact that i posted the * would get smoked by the Z. My bad. It wasnt ment to hurt your feelings. The 8 is fast but not that fast. I have already sold my 8 because a number of reasons.
1. Crap gas mileage.
2. Next year Mazda is coming out with a coupe version with more HP. Its the samething that Chevy did with the Z06. Everyone paid over MSRP for the vette and the next year they came out with one much better. Trust me guys, this years 8 is just a test car to see if the rotary is marketable.

No, they really aren't.

The coupe version of the RX-8 would be the RX-7 and that won't be out for at least two years. This coming year you'll likely see the concept for it released... followed by development for another year (if not two) like the RX-8 had, and then a final release.

You will not see the RX-7 for some time.

The other reason why you sold your car is fine but hey... I don't buy a sports car to get 30 miles to the gallon. I'm averaging 17mpg now after the car is broken in, and my lead foot, so I'm pretty happy with that.

RX8 is not a drag car. Doesn't really matter what it can or can't beat.

If you care about gas mileage so much, go buy a Civic instead of a sporty sedan. Especially a rotary powered car.

He was wanting to know and stop saying if you bought the RX-8 for drag racing. That you dont want the RX-8. I want to know why you cant have a fast car for drag racing and road course is the Rx-8 can do both. It just needs more power. and why buy something that handles if it doesnt have the power to get up and go. I am not saying that the RX-8 isn't fast. I just dont know why we cant have some real power kick and then handle I mean the corrvette has and other sports cars.

Those 'other' cars also weigh >3400 lbs.

You can make anything into a drag car (well almost) but the point is.. what was the car *designed* to do?

Besides we're not talking about DRAG RACING. We are talking about STREET RACING, which is stupid and retarded and anybody that does it should crash head-first into a pole and save us all the misery of their future actions.

this is the reason i dont post on here anymore. Someone said that the RX-8 could beat the Z. IT CANT. The truth is my idea of a sports car isnt something that handles great with four doors. This is my opinon and some of you have issuses with that. Quit being so defensive. my post was just stating the car couldnt beat a Z.
On the issue with the gas mileage, dont tell me to go buy a civic. How lame is that? I just didnt like the gas mileage. In order to go fast in this car you have to step on it. Deal with it.
