Question Opinion on these rims

Hey everybody...

Was thinking of these rims for my Winning Blue and was wanting opinions. I an trying to keep the cost under 1K and still use the TPMS. And have them either Gun Metal or Hyper Dark.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The wheels are the Kosei Double Racers

Not my cup of tea, I would pass on those. Then again it's your car, so if you think it will look good then get them espically if you just want rims that are under $1,000 and that will fit your tpms. I do agree that gunmetal or black wheels will look good on a WB Rx-8.

for 350 bucks you could get your stock 18's powder coated....just an option, and would be in your budget.

Okay. the consensus is that these wheels suck.

I was originally looking for the new MazdaSpeed rims, but the JDM's dont accept the TPMS we have in the states

So I pose another question... Has anyone worked with Wheelmax.com?

I called there and they didnt seem too informative of their products. The person I spoke to thought TPMS was a wheel company....

attached are the rims I wanted, but a: wont take TPMS and b: are out of stock anyway. they are the Excel Ennio

Any suggestions on Gunmetal or Hyperblack wheels that take TPMS?

Thanks
Rick

I say no to weelmax.com. I have heard many bad stories from my bro and the honda/acura crowd of them taking forever to ship wheels or shipping the wrong wheels, and having horrible customer service when they call to resolve their problems.

do not, i repeat DO NOT buy from wheelmax. as a matter of fact, i owned a set of those exact wheels you have a picture of. ennio's if my memory serves me correctly.

theyre cheap, heavy, weak, and the gunmetal paint comes off amazingly easy. (under the very thin coat of paint is a tan-ish undercoat that is noticable)

if youre picking up a "bitter" vibe......

youre right.

Many of the rims that you'll find that are 18 inch in your price range are going to limit you on widths, because they are made for cars smaller than ours...like the Tc, or Civic. You'll find a lot of inexpensive rims in 18x7 or even 18x7.5. My suggestion would be to keep your eye on the For Sale section for wheels that come up. I have seen many that would be close to your price range and would be something to consider.

I guess I switch out the winter tires on the factory rims and save up.

kwescott: thanks for the suggestion. Since this is my primary car, I may have to figure out how to mangage w/o the car for a few days. But powder coating may be the economical way to go right now......

Thanks for the opinions.
Rick

PS: deleting the wheelmax link from my favorites..........
