Here are more pics from a couple of ice races. One is from lake Winnebago, the other is lake Neshonic in West Salem WI. In a couple of inside the car shots you can see the huge puddle right in front of the car. By the end of that race there were like 5 of these so it was a little nerve racking. But still fun. I did manage to break the underbody plastic spoiler from going through snow and getting stuck in snow too much (you can kind of see it in the last rx8 pic). So if anyone has a base model stock underside spoiler and pan or an air dam, let me know.

It was a little painful. But in my opinion she was made to be raced, not just looked at. So if something breaks, I just fix it.

Wow that looks like fun! I'd probably be pretty damn scared my first time though.

 

Well I think a lot is up to the driver. If someone who's not used to ice would try to drive the car they'd probably have a hard time even getting it to move. This is my second season ice racing and I have a really long way to go but I have tp say that would have never thought I'd be able to get that car do what it does. My boyfriend has been ice racing for 6 years and sometimes I let him drive the RX8. Last year he got fast time of day on rubber tires! So he beat all the AWD cars, and of course all front wheel. There were like 3 STI's there! So the RX8 really handles awesome no matter what surface. And it's so much fun to just slide around and not worry too much about hitting anything. Plus, if you learn how to drive on ice, you can drive on any other surface much better.
To answer someone else question too, I have Nokian WR's snow tires. Without the tires none of this would be possible.

Oh and Bunny girl, tell your grandma to come ice racing.
