i have a problem with the airbag warning light coming on after i replaced the OEM seat with an aftermarket racing seat.
as the airbag sensor is no longer connected to the oem seat.

i have done a few searches with the search button and some people managed to fool the computer by connecting a 1/2w 2 Ohm resistor on to the airbag sensor connector. however i was unfortunate that i couldn't find a 1/2 w 2 Ohm resistor

the only replacement that i could find was a 1W 2.2 Ohm resistor.
the question is will this still work? and how would i actually connect the resistor on to he connector?

as there is 2 holes in the connector, do i just put the end of the resistor to one end and the other resistor to the other end of the holes? does it matter what way it's meant to be put like having to be 1 + and other 1 -?

I have been looking to do the same to my MX5. To correctly fool the system you need to use the correct resistor. On the MX5 anything but the correct one fails to work.

My guess is you need to keep looking for that specific resistor.

I have not fitted one yet as I am still looking for the resistance level I need to use in the MX5. Nobody seems to have that info!

 

I have no experience with airbags, just the soldering details.....

A 1 watt should have the same effect as a 1/2 watt.

...and 2.2 ohms is "close enough" to 2.

There is no polarity involved, and to connect, you should strip the wires, and solder it in place, or cut the other end off the seat and use the wires on that.

so i just connect both ends of the resistor on to the same wire and thats it?

 

i got full leather bride seats

but only on the driver side though, if this all works out, i'll get the passenger side too

not a bad looking seat! im glad you have steered away from the norm, ie. Recaro seats!

just a few quick q's....
1. what makes you choosing this one over others? (its very similar to the stock ones, except for better support around the shoulder area, looked very WELL padded too! must be quite comfortable, good to be able to recline too!)
2. whats the seating position like? looks higher than the stock position. 9 out of 10 ppl will complaint about that. you can always modify the seat rails to bring it lower anyway.

 

well ezzy, i choosed bride coz everybody else uses recaro, haha
and the other ones like recaro and spaco are even more similar to stock and has similar support, with the bride it will hold your legs and shoulders in place very tightly, so not much room to move about, therefore not so comfortable as you might think.

the quality is top notch.

the position of the seat is higher towards the legs and lower towards the butt, so it's kind of slanted

the rails i got was provided by bride also, so there is little option in that or you could go custom one

I am interested in doing this for track days if I can find a seat that lowers ride height. Does this seat lower ride height at all. How long do you think a change over would take if you had all tools available?

i had to get AutoTek (previous Recaro distributor) to custom made my seat rails for the Recaro A8's, so i can sit lower.... got it made with 3 different heights, just in case i sell it.....
very nice seats too, very similar to the factory rx-8 ones.

 

Mate, that resistor should do the trick. Doesn't matter that it is a higher wattage. Also doesn't matter which way you connect it....resistors aren't polarity sensitive.

I recommend you solder it however. Just bunging it in there is going to result in intermittent contact and more warning lights. After you have installed it, get someone with a sCANalyser to clear the light for you.

You really should have posted this thread in the Tech Garage you know.....

the only difficulty was the attaching of the rails to the bride seat as there is a screw with a bit of a tight spot to reach but once thats done it's easy to attach to the car as it only requires 4 bolts to remove/install seat+rails on to the car.
however the problem with this is the removal of the seat belt, inwhich requires you to detach the rails from the seat first. so i guess about 1-2 hour i guess.
and the ride height i would say is about the same.

 

As Gomez says, you may have found more experience on this by posting in the Tech Garage. However, as I recall, one or more of the team Elite guys have replaced seats, so must have addressed this problem. Try PM'ing ELITE-RX8 or Elite-RedRX8, who are in Melb

 

Go whoever install your strut bar zephyr. He is good in the electronic side of things... I know he is slow. Worth calling the Elite boys as they have done it. Or just go to their shop in Vermont. I can PM you with their numbers.

It is a great looking seat.

Ride height is about the same... hmmm... auzoom, I guess we have to have bucket seats and a special rail that promised to lower by an inch or 2.

 

The seat I use does lower the height by about 44mm and saves about 11 kg in weight. Takes under 10 minutes to change but I just drive to the track in it.

Any appreciable difference in weight between the leather Brides and the OEM leather seats?

Is the Bride 'liveable' on a daily basis or do you think it would be better to change between the Bride and the OEM for track days, etc? Is that even possible with the Bride (noting the 1-2 hour change over time)?

I've toyed with the whole seat change thing but as I find the OEM seats pretty good (and love the rotor cut-out ), I think I'd only do it if I could swap between them AND save some appreciable weight.

Yeah, and I could have enjoyed sitting on cheap seats, listening to a dud stereo and not seeing where I was going at night too...

I need ZephyR's opinion on long term driving.

But I have sat on it before. It is very like the Recaro in the Type R Integras. After owning 4 years of Integra prior to this. I really miss it espeically for daily driving. It is VERY comfortable on the road and you prob have a better posture driving it as it forces you to sit upright , rather than atm I have one hand on the centre console and the other on the door arm and use your knee to steer the wheel

It is in my shopping list but it is a matter of time

 

i got the seat from the same place that the elite boys got thiers, and the guy who works there already asked one of the elite boys for me, and the answer was "they just left the light on"

but anyway i'll address this issue in just a matter of time

the seat does force your body to sit in a very tight upright position, and im still trying to adjust my self in doing so, no more being lazy using 1 thumb steering the wheel
and it was harder to get in and out of the seat due to the extra leg support.
but it may not be a issue for you guys as you might have the seat sitting further back from the steering wheel

and now i feel much more solid when turning in corners, no body movement at all.
and felt very similiar to the dc5 type r recaro seats in my friends car. however the bride seats felt even more tighter.

and for the weight is similar to oem cloth seats as i dont have the leather pack
but again i have not weighted them so im not sure at all so i guess the weight of the leather pack oem seats is a little heavier due to the extra motors inside it?
