What's your parking lot like?

I live in S.B. county, where an old tract house is $1M, and BMW's are more popular than chevrolets. I thought that my RX8 would be a rare car. My parking lot at work has about 30 to 40 cars. A bunch of Honda's, 2 older Mustang's , some toyota's, 4 to 6 BMw's, 3 to 4 Mercedes, 2 911's, an Audi, 2 SAAB's, and 3 RX8's. No 350Z's, Corvettes, Oldsomobiles, Chevrolets (except SUV's), a few Fords and Dodges (no pt cruisers)

All the RX8's came right after mine. I think that the RX8 is just unique enough to hang out in a high end crowd and be cool.

What's in your lot?

We have eight or so lots totalling 2000 cars. No 8's in my area. Minivans, family sedans, some beemers, I have not yet seen an 8 in my section of the lot.

There are like 3 rx8's in the Revelle parking lots alone. There's a nice Maserati always parked outside too.

A nightmare

We have a 3-deep system. They're too tight to build multi-storey, so this is designed to cram as much as possible into a regular open lot.

Unfortunately, that means people in the front row (including me) have to park with a little lock-box attached to the window, so the parking attendants can unlock and move the car is the person trapped in the middle needs to leave early.

If I had $5 for the number of times I return to my car and find the parking brake not engaged, I would be very rich by now. RIche enough maybe to afford an 8!

Joking aside, this is something worrying me for when I do get around to purchasing an 8. I will probably ask to be relocated to one of the other lots (unfortunately further away, which is great fun in winter!), but there is a waiting list.

Oh, mix of cars, right now mostly winter beaters.

ours is similar.. but around 4000.. and we have just about every car imaginable, z06's (only 2 though), a couple of older ones, 1 RX-8 , 2 or 3 G35 coupes, 5 or so G35 sedans, probably at least 6 different 350Z's, 2 911's, and more mustangs v6, civics, camry's, and accords then I would ever care to try and count and these are just from the maybe 1000 people who park outside.. most park in the parking garage's...

Well I live in Iowa, so we have a couple combines, seven John Deere tractors, a manure spreader, two dairy tankers, a hay baler and my RX8

In all seriousness, though, there aren't too many RX8s around here. Despite this being a metro area of around 350,000, I've personally only seen four or five RX8s on the road. Lots and lots of pickups and SUVs around here.

That's one of the big selling points of the car to me.

Mine's the only 8, and I work for a car retailer, of all the stupid things. We've got Porches (a 911 and three boxsters), a 350Z, a new mustang, two STis, lots of generic lexus, mercedes, BMW, a few corvettes. Everything else is just your basic mix of Corollas, Civics, Focuses, Avalons, Camrys, etc.

Re: What's your parking lot like?

Well um, it's large. I work at a university and there are thousands of cars there everyday. As to RX-8's, until this week, I thought I had the only one there. On Tuesday, someone left a note under the left windshield wiper thanking the presumed owner (female) for a recent nice evening on the town.

I work on the NAB Coronado, CA military base. There are a couple of G35s, couple of Corvettes, a lot of older cars, and my 8. I haven't seen anymore 8s on the base, but it feels good to see how unique my 8 looks against the other cars.

Primarily I work at home. At my house our driveway would include an MPV and an F150. My car is going to park at the neighbors house, who has a small red Chevy truck. My other job it just depends on where they send me if it is for an assignment to be done, training, or whatever. If I just go pick up an assignment there is an old Dodge Caravan, a red Mazda 3, a few BMWs, a black RX-8 (the one I have gotten to drive), two Mercedes, a Lexus, a Porsche, and an assortment of generic-looking sedans. Most of those are government-owned for the purpose of work use, so if I wasn't getting a car I would have to use some of those. The Mazda 3 belongs to the guy that picks me up, the RX-8 and the van belong to the supervisor. The Lexus, Porsche, a Mercedes, and a BMW belong to employees. The rest are government.

I don't get out a lot but I haven't seen that many RX-8s around. I saw an old guy in a red one that kept circling the mall parking lot in one area about six times before he decided to park somewhere despite the fact that it was pretty empty being early in the morning on a weekday. I've seen a green one most often on I-205 going the same direction around the same time of day in the evening so probably on way home from work. I've seen a blue one once driven by someone with long, curly blonde hair. There is also a green one that parks at Blockbuster video in Oregon City (which is the one I've seem most) nearly every day so he must work there or is a big movie addict. And then there is a titanium one belonging to a 40-something lady that parks at the same park and ride my stepdad uses in the West Linn/Lake Oswego area.

The most I've seen was downtown. I had to go to some staffing place to get my identity verified by someone when my company was changing stuff around so I had to fill out paper work. This place was in a bank building. When I went in there was a yellow RX-8 across the street. When I came out and started walking there were three different ones parked on the street one behind the other by the Hilton and a girl was just getting out of another on the other side of the street. Then, while waiting for a bus that same day I saw a green one and a silver one drive by. I think I probably just don't go to the right areas or I would see them more often. I mainly see them downtown. But usually when I go downtown it is 3-4 a.m. and there isn't really much in the way of cars.

I teach in an urban school where we share our space on the street with the neighbors. So, there is really a mixture. Most staff cars are SUVs and mini vans, a few pick-ups. Neighborhood cars are mostly beaters, some sit in their space for months and then get towed. A few 'high end' cars: 2 RX-8s, one Z, one classic Mustang, one BMW. I tried taking a pix out of my window of my car on the street, but we have unremoveable screens in the window & the camera focuses on the screen, not the cars. Makes me feel really safe if the students & I have to make a quick escape & I cant get the screen out of the window! I keep a box cutter in my desk...just in case.

mostly non-descript mid-size sedans/SUVs in the visitor parking lot just below where i sit... underground garage is too big/expansive to tell what's in there...

i do see a few RX-8's here and there though, odd how some of you never see another 8 other than yours, i seem to see one every other day... and different ones too!

at my apartment, my 8 by far is the nicest car, most cars look like early to mid 90's cars. there are some 00+ cars, but not too many. at work i think i have the second or third nicest car (as far as price) the VP of opps has a bmw conv, and i think someone has a mercedes truck too, might not be from my company

i definitely don't have the nicest car in the garage, there's a Bentley Continental GT down there sometimes, as well as a Porsche 911 GT3 and a BMW 645i

About a 60 space lot, tons of upper-crust, Lexus, BMW & GMC SUV's (no Escalades), also your garden variety of those large p/u trucks (you know, the ones that pull right up in your *** trying to blind you with their 85k "hyper blue" headlamps, but don't bother us because we have an auto-dimming mirror)... okay, got my rant in...

Of the cars: Toyotas, & at least 4 Saabs & Bimmers.
I have had the only Mazda or Corvette on the lot for 5 years running.
Nobody but nobody bangs their doors against my cars either!

Although I'm not one of the big-shots, I have always been assigned the 4th space from the entrance... Therefore I have to keep my cars clean!

depending on what shift everyone is on, anywhere from 3 to 5 8's (2 BBs, 1 red, a yellow, and a blue). There's a few BMWs/Mercs/Audis. A few Acura/Infinity/Lexus. A few Volvos/Saabs. 15-20 Mustangs. 3 or 4 350Z/G35 coupes. 5-10 F-bodies. A couple GTOs. 1 C6 Vette* and 2 or 3 C5s. A couple s2000s. About 4-500 trucks/SUVs of various sorts. 6-700 everyday point A to point B cars. At least 25 riced out Civics . And one 1969 Pontiac Firebird

*The C6 is shorter than the 8, overall. It looks larger in pictures. I had no idea until I parked next to it.

edit: oh yeah 1 FC and 2 FDs
