Warning to OC for Traffic violations

I recieved an e-mail form a co-worker yesterday and thought I would share it here.

For those of us who like to drive fast.....

California Highway Patrol will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy in South Orange County starting January 25, 2006. The state estimates that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to pay California Highway Patrol officer overtime. There will be 90 California Highway Patrol officers on duty at all times patrolling the 7 freeways. They are the following: 73, 55, 133, 241, 57, 5, 605 freeways.

Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every California Highway Patrol officers is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes.

They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you live or work in South Orange County you must take one of their freeways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do. This is a test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the State of California. The wealthy folks of South Orange County can afford this new tax. The California State Legislators dreamed up this law to help close the budget gap or something like that. I was told KICU-FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

You've been warned.

I've seen them on the 5 in San Clemente before doing this sort of thing. Patrol cars lined up one after another on the side of the freeway. It's pretty crazy stuff.

i appreciate law enforcement and their service to the community. but, geez louise... don't they have anything better to do? it just shows u that our state's fiscal over-spending is bleeding into all areas. and, now they are actually scraping for revenue w/ this type of bs measure... i think we need to hold the state gov't & legislature more fiscally responsible so that this type of thing doesn't ripple throughout the state. enough is enough.

I agree. I have nothing but respect for crime cops, but bike cops and CHP are really nothing but traffic enforcement (AKA revenue generators). Although they are necessary to help keep idiots off the road, things like this are just ridiculous.

Check your local section of the OC Register.

Law enforcement is required to notify the public of any such 'speed trap' operations, etc.
You'd be surprised what you find in a newspaper if you actually make it out of the Sports section.

Hmm...I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this, considering I drive the 55 & 405 EVERY day. Thanks for the heads up...

Thanks for the info. I guess I'd better slow down especially I take the 5, 405,55 and 605 every week. So I guess I have higher chances on encountering the Highway patrols.

I don't know if it's true but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here just to be cautious.

I would definitely think so since you've got so many freeways in the area; 405, 133,241,5, etc.

You should see how bad they are on the 73! They're always hiding under the freeway overpasses waiting to get you.

If you drive on that freeway, SLOW DOWN when you get near MacArthur.
I drove that freeway every day for 2 years...trust me.

Some useful INFO. I am a rx7club regular and this warning email was CONFIRMED BY THE CHP that is a 100% false. They only wish they had the funds to pull something like that off! So once again it was all a bunch of BS
