THE red Gs (you all know the one, in Ottawa)

I put a hold on it!

Someone is getting the papers filled out RIGHT NOW to take over my lease!!!

It will take a few days, at least 2 days for financing reply, hopefully by tomorrow we know if he is accepted (I'm sure that won't be an issue).

Takes 5 days to finalize the deal. So maybe by next friday I will be driving an RX8??

We'll see. That is if bank st. doesn't screw me over!

Fritzman, you were right, it's under $44K Yup $14 under!

Think they will throw in all-weather mats and wheel locks?

I figured Mazda since it is 6.12% I don't think I can get a lower rate via the bank. I suppose I should call though.

They just called me though, said, if I want it, it is first come first served!

IE. If I don't go THERE too f'in bad. Nice service eh?

It's definitely worth a call to the bank. If you're a regular customer, with several accounts, mortgage, and prior loan history, they'll do better.

I got a quote from my bank for the RX-8 loan - they offered a fixed rate at 7.5%, or variable rate at prime+1.7%. After I finished laughing at them, I told them I wanted a variable rate at prime+0.5%. They gave it to me (that's around 5% right now). Don't be afraid to negotiate with the bank!

Regards,
Gordon

Why am I not surprised? I'm really starting to appreciate Argus.

In regards to shopping the rate around, it depends on your FICO score. If your 800 or more, you really should be able to do a lot better then 6.12%. I'm already down to 5.5 without trying. Remember that even Mazda's rate is negotiable. Hawkesbury was offering me a lease rate of 5.5 to 6% after I mentioned that I have a line of credit at 4.5% :p Now whether or not they would cough it up at crunch time or find some excuse to back out who knows.

Turns out the rate was 7.9! Then I said, I hate scotiabank. So they said... ummm we have BMO, I said ok, what's their rate? They say 7.55! I'm like WTF?? Why would you offer me the HIGHER rate?

Anyway, long story short the finance guy was trying to sell me rust protection and warranty and extras???? ZAH?

He was good lier!

Fritzman, the question is now, did you drive the RX8?

The salesman (chris) said you had last week, you were the only guy to test drive it. Then get this......

Finance guy: You should buy rustproofing.
me: Ummm no thanks.
Guy: Yes it's awesome, lifetime warranty
Me: no thanks.
Guy: Well just to let you know the car will never be cleaner than now, it's the best time NOW, after that it's too late.
Me: Ummm the car has been driven on the road already.
Guy: No, NEVER only back and forth in the lot.
Me: Hmmmm so why does it have 19Km on it.
Guy: Only the mechanic took it out for inspection.
Me: Ummm I know someone that drove it, guy with a protoge.
Guy: He's LIEING! Nobody drove the car just the mechanic.
Me: Ok whatever, I don't want the rustproofing.

So that lie #1.

Lie #2, Car doesn't have ANY rust protection we've sold 9 of them, none had it.

Me: Ok.

Me Outside (to chris): So what old colours did you guys get?
Chris: Oh we haven't gotten the other cars yet, no idea.

Me: Ahaha, F'IN LIER!

Hmmm, I bought the extended warranty for $600 because it gives you a choice later on to buy the 7 year one.... I think this was BAD.

Any comments?

well, he is giving you the "normal" assholish run around with all the little dealer tricks, and it's nice that you're being (mostly) civil, i mean it is his job to do that.

the lie about the test drives, well, i still wouldn't worry about it too much: there's only so much someone can do to a car in less than 19kms, minus what you, the factory (shipping), and the mechanic already put on it.

i think i like the idea of an extended warranty, especially one that gives you the OPTION to extend it later. $600 for insurance against far, far, FAR more cost than just that, seems like a good idea to me (especially for a first run, first year car).

Yes it's $600 now, to extend the warranty bumper to bumper for 48 / 100000.

After 4 years I can extend it to 7 years for $1700.

I'm just thinking I could use that $600 for goodies :D

The other issue, is you STILL can extend the warranty later, BUT you have to pay some fee he said of $600-700?? The extended warranty is $2080 though, but that would cover you for years 4-7.

Hmmmm, I'll still have to think about this. Is the $1700 GUARANTEED? Or can Mazda in 4 years from now say, too bad so sad, it's $4000 for the warranty. Or worse we don't offer it!

wow, that's a really really steep increase... i'm not so sure about that...

besides, after 3 years, you're telling me you wanna keep that motor stock anyways???

No increase, if I bought the extended warranty now it would be $1700, if I bought it and the 4 year one it would be $1700 later + $600 now. That seems like ummmm MORE! Not sure though, I'll ask tomorrow. If it is $1700 now and $1700 later, than that's a total rip!

I think I'll call mazda proper, the dealer lies too much.

I forgot LIE #3: Although this could be true I HIGHLY doubt it.

The car is painted Red underneith! There is NO undercoat by the factory (hell my hyundai came with it).

Now tell me, do you really think mazda would waiste perfectly good paint on the underside?

I'm sure it's coated with some crap, could be paint under that crap, who knows.

Ok, I'm trying to decipher my dealer's hand writing, since we went through all the extra insurance crap last week, at least the two packages we talked about.
The first is the straight 7 year, 160000 km package.
If you purchase it with in the first 12 months, or 20000 km, it is $2060. If you buy it after that, they add a surcharge of $5 per 1000 km (i.e. 40000 km = $200 surcharge).

The other one (which it sounds like they were talking to you about Wing) is the 4 years/ 100000 km one.
If you purchase it within the first 12 months or 20000 km, it is $595. You can then upgrade it at anytime to the 7 year, 160000 km package for an additional $1780. I don't have any note saying you can pick up this package with a surcharge after 12 months, but that may missing on my notes.

I figure, from his explanation of both, that I've got a year to decide what I want to do.

BTW, has anyone looked at the wheel and tire insurance? He gave me a brochure but I haven't even looked at it. Is it worth looking into?

ah, i misunderstood your first statement... it DID seem too good to be true!! oh well... in 7 years, think you could have $1700 worth of unschedule repairs done?? hmmm... from the dealer's perspective, it's SUPPOST to at least break even, or even better make them money... hmm...

in any case, hell no, the car is not painted red underneath... what a friggin' moron... just do a push-up or two on a sunny day: it's quite evident there is not even "overspray" (considering the panels are painted before assembly) under the car...

check out Boowana's pics of his car on a lift. no paint.

Right, I forgot about those pictures! I should print one and shove it in his FACE! RED??

Whatever if the deal goes through, I'm taking my car and having fun. I don't think I'll be servicing there. As I have serviced my hyundai at the dealer that shares their parking lot and have had MANY bad things done to my car!

Jasper, thanks for the explaination, that makes MUCH more sense now.

Did you go for any of this? It seems like I would be better off waiting?

I already signed the "pre-agreement" so I'm not sure if I can get out of it. I think I can though, it would be good to "think about it" for say 12 months or less. Plus I can save the extra $600 or use it for something else NOW, or use it to lower my payments etc.

I was very addiment (sp?) about paying it CASH, I didn't want the $600 added into my financing payments. I did this with hopes of having them simply cross it off later if need be.

Wing, yes I did drive it. Down Bank, over to St.Laurent, and then back up Hunt Club. I did take it easy though keeping RPM under 7K.

I didn't sign up for anything. I just told him I'd decide in the next 12 months. In the mean time the money will be of more use paying off my stove and fridge...

Honestly, I have never been blatently lied to so obviously!

Well I truely do hope I get the car, I love it. If I don't get it, I will shove these lies into his face. If I do get it, I will say THANKS! Sign the papers, and then say: "By the way, I know it was driven before, no need to lie about it, (heck Chris TOLD me himself that you drove it Fritzman!).

If you can't get out of it, write down the mileage as soon as you can. While I was getting a price for the 3m clear bra at my detailer, one guys was bragging that he went for a drive with his friend who is the sales manager at Bank. That means YOUR red GS. BTW if anyone else in Ottawa wants the 3m film installed for a good price PM me. I can't get you what I paid but it's significantly less then what I've seen posted on this forum so far.

I went by Argus today to pickup my receipt for my down and written on the receipt "fully refundable" signed by the SM and I didn't even have to ask). Gord if your reading this, you don't have to worry about your Silver AT. It is inside the showroom and locked tight, they won't even let people sit in your car. :p Another little plus for Argus.

mac, GRRRRR I just took the car for a drive. It had 19Km on it, last week. Today 40k! Now it has 80k!

Fun drive!

They locked it up in the back and put SOLD on it. I asked who drove it and the guy truely didn't know. He said, he thinks it was a rep or something..... who knows maybe he lied.

Anyway, I seriously doubt it was hammered, you can't hammer the damn thing.

I hit 7k rpm (didn't want to go more than that). I was already going like 60km in first. Hell, I can't imagine the speed at 9k!

P.S. I'm approved, it's a go!

I pick up on Wednesday probably as I'm getting financing outside the dealer.

Congrats Wing! I am so-o-o-o jealous.

I can't wait for the end of August for mine (I know I'm fooling myself thinking that it will get here then ).Apparently the blue is coming in next week, I hope that I won't like it as much as the titanium which I have yet to see in person.

I originally wanted titanium, that is a SWEET colour. I didn't even like the red in photos. But man it's awesome in person.

mac, PM me if you want a closer gander at the car, I would be happy showing it off!

I pick it up Tuesday!

Road test funny:

Driving down riverside... WRX zooms beside me and waves me to race.

Driving down hunt club, some ricer zooms up at 100km or more behind me, gets beside me and thumbs up HUGE out the window style. Then he goes behind me and again around the other side.

LOL it was funny.

Oh well, bank St. Strikes again!

BASTARDS!

F' THEM I'm going to get my car, but I certainly won't be returning.

They are not honouring our originally agreed on interest rate!

Of course, they wait for the last SECOND like 2 hours before I pick up the car, because it's impossible to get other financing. They call and say we can't match that rate!

GRRRRR. Well I want my car too much to back out now. BASTARDS!

give them the finger as you walk out. seriously.

better yet, walk up to the manager who authorised all the financing and payment plans for your car, give him a nice "**** you"... that's a whole lot of money they just snookered you on.

Well I would rather be civil.

So my plan is before signing the papers to talk to the manager.

I plan on purchasing the extended warranty later down the road. Basically if he makes good in some fashion I'll return to purchase that warranty from him. Otherwise, it will be a big F' U some BAD press and maybe a finger
