shoes?

does any one here wear racing shoes for autox or any other time? specificly speedwell shoes? do they make a difference cause i noticed depending on the shoes im wearing changes my driving (ex my reebok have THICK soles and a pointy sole so when i drive the clutch distances feels farther away and sometimes my heel gets caught in my all weather mats bc of the rubber..)

Get Wrestling shoes ( Greco Roman NOT Hulk Hogan ) same as 'Driving shoes' but cheaper.

http://www.karatedepot.com/adidaswrestlingshoes.html for example

Get the wrestling shoes. Remember, depending on the brand, you will have to get a 1/2 to 1 full size larger than your street shoes.

you're suppose to remove your mats just for that reason, it's a safety hazard

yeah, no mats for autox. I don't think I understand how you can miss your brake. When at an autox, I actually found a pair of sketchers that have a very thin sole and fit snug.

I like the Adidas Tuscanys I have. Besides for auto-x, I also wear them for long road trips to keep my feet from getting sore.

Forgot to mention that unless you can find last year's model, they come in red or green now instead of black or white.

I have some adidas thin-soled shoes that I prefer for autox, but for any road course or solo trials or higher speed event, I wear racing shoes that have some measure of fire-resistant coating. Just in case. My challenge is to remember to change back out of them before having to run out for a work assignment, they don't do real well standing and running on cement or asphalt for an hour or more.

I have Piloti Milano's. You can get a more hardcore racing shoe, but they're nice all around. I only wear them mostly just for autocross or track, but I'll wear them out and about every once in a while, too.

I just looked out on eBay for racing boots for a while until a pair in my size came up. Haven't tried them yet, but I'm sure they'll make a difference - I've lost the brake pedal once on track Tsuchiya would have been proud of the shift-lock drift I pulled entering that corner!

I've been wearing some shoes I found which are almost like pro shoes anyway, but the sole isn't as grippy as a proper rubber shoe.

And when you're doing the full three-footed shuffle on a particularly twisty section it's easy to catch one pedal with the edge of a foot that's supposed to be working another...

I wear Vans skateboarding shoes. They have thin soles and good feel but the shoes are wide which helps for heelntoe because I usually blip the throttle with part heel and part side of foot.

I just purchased a pair of Reebok Driving shoes. It's not that expensive and the soles are very thin. It's also good for everyday casual wear.

i bought a pair of addidas samba indoor soccer shoes when i bought my car to aid in my learning how to drive stick... they have a nice mix of enough cushion so you can actually wear them as an everyday shoe but provide a good feel of the pedals (plus some classic looks and cost $35)

i'm going shopping for some tuscany shoes soon... had the puma speedcats but i almost broke my ankle in those damn things walking around because the sole is so narrow

I have a pair of Puma Speedcats and a pair of Adidas Tuscany's. The Adidas are much nicer overall and like rotor said the sole of the Speedcats is super narrow.

Beach/windsurfing shoes from REI. They cost $35 for a real good pair; they're perfect for performance driving, and they are wide enough for those of us who simply can't find real driving shoes or wrestling shoes wide enough for our feet.

I like my Speedcat II's for what they are, but I also injured myself. jogging along the (paved) staging area @ rallyX event and stepped on a rock that I didn't see. good thing it was my left foot not my right, had to do my last 2 runs with throbbing/partly numb left foot!!
