new and need your help

hi there, new to the forums and really joined for information and more (been a member of zx2 forums for years even after i sold the car)

anyway i had been looking at new cars around 20k (ford fusion, spec v, mazda 3, etc...) and happened upon a used '04 rx8 for 24k that caught my attention... after searching auto trader i discovered i could nail one anywhere from as low as $18,700 on up... definately more enticing then a bland 4 door sedan

so obviously i'm going with the 6 speed, preferably leather and this part has nothing to do with any of you lol

the part that does? what problems/issues should i look for? i know absolutely NOTHING about the rx8 except that i love the way it looks and a 9000 rpm redline is a hell of alot of fun

due to the lovely pa weather (snow sucks) i haven't had a chance to drive one yet but i'm looking forward to it

thanks for letting me ramble and thanks ahead of time for your help

-ed

It takes a special kind of person to own an RX8. It's not your hop in the car and go civic but if you're willing to take just a little care it is the best "bang for the buck" sports car out there.
As usual the dealer is expecting you to fall in love and pay almost any price. Do your research!

if i was 10 years younger i *might* be into civics lol... i just wasn't too excited about a sedan and really had no clue that '04 rx8's could be picked up for such a reasonable price

Just ask the previous owner what problems he had if any and look up carfax. If all is well, buy it, it'll be worth your money, we promise.

i dont know but civics, are the biggest piece of junk ever, no power looks like S!@# no performance, front wheel drive. civics are for old people or lil teenagers that love to make loud noises with the biggas mufflers and go no where.

I look at it a different way - Civics are reliable transportation, period. Unless, of course, you are lucky enough to live in a place that carries the Type R - then, it's reliable and fun transportation. Some people can't afford much more, or sadly enough, some people just don't care if it looks blah and goes slow - they just need wheels.

As for hopped-up Civics, well, there's no accounting for some people's tastes, but hot-rodding in the US has its roots in a similar cultural phenomenon. History does repeat itself.
