painted armrest

i did this few wks back but kept forgetting to put it up
got this from the group buy on this forum. had some problem with the paint. ( i think the spray can was faulty or old) the colours didn't come out right initially..
i ended up using the whole spray can to do this. think i did at least 7 overcoats.. )

anyway, pretty happy with the result.
just enjoy the pics and it maybe an idea for some of yous for the interior

more pics here if anyone's interested.

Nice job. I guess I never noticed before that on a right hand drive you still have the parking brake on the right. With the huge handle for the parking brake on the RX8 that must be something of a hassle to have to reach over to shift. Why didn't Mazda change the parking brake to the left side of the tunnel? Or is that the way all cars are with right hand drive?

By having the hand brake on the right hand side of the tunnel, it makes the hand brake right next to your leg, very easy to reach and nothing to reach over. No problems at all...

Are you saying that on the US cars that the hand brake is on the opposite side of the tunnel to where the driver sits?

BAck on topic...the cover looks good...makes for a lot of red in the cabin

Yup Gibbo,

Our parking break is on the other end of the tunnel. You guys are weird...

Wow, looks like you did pretty good job on it, congrats.

Jedi 54 is right. On all left hand drives that I have seen recently that have a stick shift on the tunnel the parking brake is on the far right of the tunnel. Especially with the huge handle that Mazda put on the RX8 it would seem to get in the way of the stick.

with the exception of hill starts, I never engage any gear while the handbrake is on, so the handle just isn't a problem. I also agree with Gibbo that after you've parked the car somewhere it is convenient to have it right next to you.

And playa - nice job. Too much red for me but it certainly makes your interior just that little bit different.

Cough cough... but Japan are in right hand drive.... cough cough

Now who is weird?

Not to steal that thread! Playa78. That is good. Matches your red gear boot really well.

it's pretty dark red actually although the photo doesn't show it like that with flash.
