Why won't Mazda sell oil filter cap wrenches??

I bought the "F" type cap wrench suggested in the DIY oil filter change thread
here

However, it doesn't fit on the factory filter I have. Mazda parts department tells me they aren't authorized to sell the oil filter caps they use to owners?

Anyone else have this problem? I think I'm going to have the dealership do one more oil change and put a mobil-1 filter in..that way i can change it myself from now on.

Makes no sense why they wouldn't sell the cap wrench to me...ASDFASDF!!!

I use my Hands. The dealer actually didn't have to extra tight so I got their off with my hand and now I just change it that way.

Avoid that dealer in the future.

If a dealer gives you crap about a part, don't ask for the part directly. Just give them the part #. I had some local dealers tell me they weren't allowed to sell the service manuals =/. I swear some dealerships are still stuck in medevial times.

Contacted my dealer and they said putting a Mobil-1 filter on won't void my warranty so I'll just go that route. They sold me the shop manual np. I guess the cap wrench is for expert use only Thx for the help guys.

No, they want to sell you the oil change. If you have their wrench, you can't do it your self right? I went to Auto Zone and bought one that clamps down on the top as torque is applied. It's only the first filter that is hard to get off. Once you properly install the next one, it will come off easy.

I took off the first one with my hands, after that they are easy.
