Possible use of this wing?

Alright, before you guys flame me for getting a big *** carbon fiber wing, let me set it up for you. This wing is one of only 3 in the world and was designed and built to go on one of the Falken Tire drift cars. Its the same wing they have on 2 of their other drift cars, its very nice and has a huge retail price tag.
Anyways, ive got a c/f hood and trunk on order as well as the mazdaspeed front bumper for my car. Im thinking that this would compliment the look and give the car more of a D1 look.
After i get the hood and trunk, it will be set on the trunk to see if i like it, if i dont im gonna sell it.
Let me know what you think.

Remember, this is just something im thinking of doing. I need to get a couple of photoshops of it done to see what i think, but im not sure if it will be used or not. Im also changing hte color of the car this winter, so it will have to work with what ever new color i pick.

its going to take lots of thinking and setting it on the trunk and photoshopping to convince me to do it, and if i dont, ill just sell it.

I was "forced" into putting a CF hood on my car. After about three days though, I began to like it. it is a unique look. Not every body likes it, but hey, not everyone likes smoked eels or anchovies on their pizza. So what?!!?

Conformists that want to stop you from adding this to your car can have there opinion. Do what you like.

For what it is worth, I say go for it. (My plan as well, but with a much much smaller wing)

Did you read SSC where they got 1.08 g on a miata with street slicks and BAW (big a$$ wing)? Your wing looks similar as I recall, with the tips of the wing having a different slope.

Good way to get comfortable understeer at high speed.

The wing is nice. Nice weave on the CF but it would not match your car at all. BY the looks of your sig you have the appearance package. And you said you were trying to give it that D1 look. In order to achieve that look you would need a large sweeping body kit to match. It would look unproportioned with that wing on.

Seconded.

IMO, there's only one reason to put a wing on your car, and that's if you need it for performance reasons on the track. Otherwise (IMO) it looks like a silly overpriced decoration.

I actually don't disagree (with the decoration part; silly is a little much), but if you took that arguement to its extreme, we would all be driving Echos and wearing khakis. Doing a mod for looks or sound is not an inappropriate reason.

Point taken, and you're right that many of us do mods just for looks (hence my sig). I guess to me it just looks overdone.

Well, my car is going to be a show car, complete color change this winter, ive got the mazdaspeed front end for it in my garage and am trying to find some sides and reat that i like. The wing is bigger than i wanted, but it was hard to tell from the pics.

kraize-the wing retails for $1200 but i pd $600 for it. Now, before anyone says im crazy for paying that much, keep a few things in mind- Its one of only 3, if i dont use it, they said i could return it (at no charge, full a full refund), but i can also try to sell it and make a few bucks too. So all in all, ive got nothing to lose. If its going to look bad, everyone wil know it, if it looks good, everyone will know it, and if i dont like it, im not out money.

that wing is one of only three ricer wings in the entire world? do the world a favor and keep it off your car. there are better ways to make your car a show car than putting a non functional park bench on the back.

But its perfectly functional, granted i dont need it for functionality, but it was designed and built for actual drift cars, thats where the other to are at.
Like i said, i still dont know yet, i have to wait until my hood and trunk get here and i may even wait until the car gets repainted in febuary.

With that wing, you'll probably still be able to see out the rear window. It's too small.

I like the wing, like others said don't let what people say influence you on what you want for your ride. Ultimately you're the one that has to look at it everyday you step in your garage, but it's a show car I don't see why not, all show cars have big wings, shawrf1 car had a huge wing and it turn out really nice so I can't see why it can't be accepted for your ride.

the wing is beside the point, I can't believe you're painting your car, it's not like yellow is a common color or anything

KYRX8,
If you get the hood and trunk installed before your paint job, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post some pics.

I'm thinking of getting a CF Hood but I'd like to see how it looks on a yellow.

BTW - I'd like to give you my opinion of that wing, but the truth is, it's YOUR car. If you like it, forget what other people think. Besides, the die-hards that think the car shouldn't be changed that much should be happy. The more people that "Rice-Out" their cars, the more unique the stock RX8's will be.

As a famous poet from the 90's once put it, "Doowutchyalike" - Humpty

ya know. I like the shape of the wing but i think the supports look really cheap and way to tall. hm. wonder if you could change out the supports. Also, how much wind resistance would you get. Could it actually reduce your top speed? Seems a bit blulky.
