gears?

does anyone know if their are gears ( final drive) that help the 8 out ?

But the thing is our cars eat up alot of gas , the gears would only make it worst, well maybe not on city but highway i suppose..

you have 2 choices. Make the rear diff ratio taller and therefore make the car go a little faster off the line (in the expense of lower fuel mileage), or make it shorter for fuel economy.

basicly making the ratio taller would give the most performance ?

How much would it cost ?

What are the companys that have thsi product?

There was a best motoring comparison of a stock 8, versus the FEED 8. It made a pretty nice difference. That is with shorter gears.

Im really interested in seeing the video , because my cousin showed me a video of a Stock s2k vs a S2k w/ gears and it was literally a bus length

So im wonderin how much it helps the 8 out!

The final drive gear that FEED (Fujita-Engineering) offer are 4.77 thats is compared to 4.44. They are about $618 US + shipping. It would affect the speed vs rpm in ALL gears since its the final drive. This with a flywheel would be a nice pickup in accel.

Moostafa29 : did that FEED rx8 have just the gears, or all the RX8 parts they make, or did make at the time....header, rad, flywheel...ect ect. I know that the bolt ons dont help a ton, but maby the combo of the parts with the gears and the JDM ecu tune could account for a big jump in speed.

Is there anyone making numerically lower gears than stock (<4.44) ? With a turbo, 1st gear is almost useless. The lower RPMs at highway speeds would be cool for gas mileage & there's plenty of power from 2500 RPMs up, so passing in 6th wouldn't be a problem.

It has the new final drive, and a few other mods. Not all that they make, since it was in its earlier stage. Didn't even have the bodykit at the time. There have been plenty of other best motoring/hot version vids since that have had it in there, and the car has done pretty well. I particularly like when it went against the amuse s2k, and held its ground with much less power. I think it had all the mods by then.

kw1k, sorry I forgot to upload it to you, if you are on later on today I'll hook you up.

Alright cliff notes from the video moostafa sent,

Basicly the FEED Rx-8 was a little more then 2sec on the track then a Stock 8, Which is very good, only problem is that their is no way if we put this on our cars it could still be a everyday driver car...

The gas would just rape us in the ***. Its a very good mod / worth doing if your 8 is a track car / weekend car

Maybe with the new interceptor x- ECU well tuned would give us better gas mileage AND if so, then i think your going to see alot of people start getting the gears...

The Interceptor-X Greddy turbo cars we have been testing are getting 180-210 per tank around town. Keep in mind that this is proportional to the users right foot. These #'s should improve for cars used at sustained 60-80 mph cruise speeds.

Hi!
I'm from Italy and I've a 5.125 final gear ratio on my RX-8, paired with a better LSD. They're the same rack and pinion and LSD used in the italian RX-8 Sports Cups racing cars (official italian Mazda racing championship), by Astra Racing Team.
Shorter gears improve the cars a lot and the new LSD gives a lot more traction.

For details:

If you have any questions, just ask.

5.125 final gear would be nice, but that would REALLY kill our gas mileage. I really wish I had a chance to see how big the difference would be first hand. On the website it says you can reflash the ecu itself, is this true?
