I'm thinking of going there on Sept 2nd, from Washington DC (so we either meet there, or somewhere close to the Dragon). If weather is bad (hurricanes?), I'll postpone going.
If anybody is interested in driving the Dragon on Sept 3rd and coming back to NJ on Sept 4th, PM me.

my trip is at the end of sept...skyline drive- blue ridge pky - tail of the dragon - road atlanta for the petit lemans!!! hoping to make the trip down in one day! we'll see!

 

im down to run it whenever. Seems like a sweet drive.

 

Just came back - went only down to Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, then turned towards Virginia Beach and back home. Great driving places and not too demanding on the car or driver. Excellent weather helped too. Traffic Friday was OK, not crowded yet (gas price helped?!?)
The price of gas, amount of cops and heavy Labor Day traffic were reasons to not go all the way to the Dragon... Maybe later, if the gasoline gets cheaper again (in most places in Virginia, there was only Premium available at BP and Shell, the two brands I use exclusively).

 

No 9min run per each direction?! Guess we will have to make it down there sometime in the near future and film the whole thing like we planned =P

Talking about burning gas, hope you are ready for the autox on 9/10!

 

I'll be down there 2nd weekend of October, hopefully gasoline prices will drop a bit by then. Will be packing 3 bikes down on a trailer though, not taking the 8. If anyone's never been down there, car or otherwise, do yourself a favor and GO!
