Unhappy RX8's On Sale..... Why?!

I know a few of us peeps have contemplated selling our lovely dear RX8's....

With the rising fuel etc.... it's almost like a house loan @ 5% interest, and it sky rockets to 9%.... you can't afford to keep paying the gorgeous mobile off.

I noticed on CarPoint there are about 24 Australia wide, and 6 in Melbourne...

Whats happening people? Why are you all selling up?

I'd be surprised if people are doing it in response to fuel prices...the depreciation hit buys a lot of fuel -- even at today's prices.

I see most of them are at dealers, with a good proportion 2003's. That suggests to me (a) sales of demos and 'dealer's own car' ahead of the 2006 update; and (b) some people are rolling over leases after 2 years, which is quite normal

Or (c) with the large number NOT for sale, we're simply cleansing the gene pool of the few who fail to truly appreciate this magnificent car

Don't panic -- it's all good

I'm swapping to a new model through work (sunroof etc).... but it surprised me how many are selling..... I didn't expect so many to be online (at this one site so far)

It's interesting to hear ppls reason to selling....... mine, I'm upgrading! :P

Why not upgrade with Hymee's supercharger!

Much more of a worthy upgrade than a sunroof personally...:D

Cheers.

Well, if that's your car, a couple of comments:

(a) the warranty is unlimited k's, so you can still offer 2 years plus that

(b) the price is somewhat high -- even if it was on a Mazda dealer's floor, where they are currently posting sticker prices of $54-56K, and selling at $51K or less. Some people have negotiated new LP 8's at $58K recently. As a private, you'll shift this quickly at perhaps a tad below $50K

(and I know it has 19" wheels -- just hard to get much money for them over stock -- so good luck )

I think the sunroof looks naff open or shut (but especially open), robs head room, adds weight high up, destroys the 'double bubble' roof design feature and contributes to melanoma but hey, each to their own. I understand some people go mad for them.

Agreed - sincerely hope you get that but I reckon it's market value is closer to $50K.

Go to the Nationals before finishes with it...

The car is not consuming petrol much more than other sports car. The only one that clearly better is the S2000 at just below 10L/100km. Most tubro car will get to 13-14L... although Stuart said he had the EVO for a week and get 10L...

Yeah for normal driving in the EVO VIII over 5 days I got approx 10-10.5L/100km. Was not my car so I did not thrash it much. After driving it for the week I don't know if my 8 will ever feel fast again The Evo certainly got on boost quick!

This, to me, raises the most interesting point about the 8 relative to other cars.

Seems to me you can become a fan of that frantic turbo boost sensation (and accompanying lag)

Or a fan of the kick *** torque of a big V8

But I just love the brilliant smoothness of the 8 -- as it revs, revs...and then some more

Yeah my 8 feels more fun to drive, and even in stand still traffic you feel good sitting in it. The Evo well it felt just like a lancer when in heavy traffic

...And nobody except boys going through puberty paid the evo much attention. Certainly not the attention I prefer anyway :D

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving this baby for a sunroof...... I'm moving to a company paid for rx8 baby.... fuel, servicing, rego etc etc..... Why pay for mine, when they'll pay for it all!

Oh, and price wise, start high, finish where you want!

If anyone was to actually enquire, they'd be told, buy before the new one comes, and it's yours for $$$$ less! But why sound like an ebay item when it's a stylish, sports coupe!!!
