Wow, Captain Obvious strikes the Detroit Free Press. I wonder if the folks at the top of the big three have read this

Notice that the table description outright compares "Japaneese-brand vehicle owners" to "domestic-brand buyers". What does that even mean, that people who own a 5 or 10 year old Accord are now making more money than those who buy a new 300C? Statistics like this can be interpreted and adapted to show anything you want. I hate articles and "studies" like this. It's just like "initial quality" surveys and such. A person who buys a $100,000 MB or BMW with a small rattle or crack in a headlight lens is more likely to complain about it and have it fixed by the dealer than someone who buys a $12,000 Rio, Neon, or Aveo. Since the surveys are based on complaints and repair statistics, no wonder the Germans are always at the top of the "most repairs" list.

Statistics are dangerous in the wrong hands. I could pull out some statistics that prove that water is bad for you, afterall, it is what is found in brain tumors and can erode metals in a matter of years. In fact, it is even responsible for the permanent earth scarring found in Arizona!

I would say that most big 3 buyers in the states are just patriotic to the brands.

Most pickup truck buyers are uneducated also. You don't need a degree to farm, build, plow, tow, ect.

while I agree statistics can be manipulated, you've notice the footnote at the bottom refers to new car buyers, not used.

I don't need a study to tell me this info, I knew this already, it was just funny to see it spelled out so clearly in a Detroit newspaper.
