Mazda Online Focus Group for RX-8

A rep from Mazda called me Wednesday and asked me if I wanted to participate in a paid, online focus group for the RX-8. She asked me for my email address and said she would send me an email invite. Just wondering if any one else was contacted.

They called me Friday.

I gave them Mugatu's bank a/c and PIN numbers. :D

We got a call a few weeks ago, but we asked them to call back later as we were going through a bad time. They never did. Bummer. I wanna point out that I fail to find the humour in creating a trunk-release button that you can't see OR feel.

i was apart of it too. got the call a few weeks ago and already did the survey, they really give you a lot of freedom to say what you feel even if its not listed. I told them my thoughts on improvements but also told them how much i love this car, and to keep it going.

btw...you can redo and add to the survey as much as you want, so maybe i can add the trunk thing..

Heh add the fact that the trunk is not secure with the valet key since it opens up the glovebox :P

They called me and got my email address, then sent me a message saying that they would contact me for the survey. That was months ago and I never heard from them.

Yeah, the trunk release drives me crazy. But at least it isn't as silly as sun visors with holes. I in favor of weight reduction but that makes no sense!

Very odd.. not a few days after I posted the message above.. and today I get a call at work "Would you like to be a part of a virtual focus group for your Mazda RX-8".

Heh I was like "Sure" and she took all my info and when asked when I should expect this focus group to take place, she said I should expect it to start in about 2 weeks or so.

can't wait!

I wish I would hear from them. I'd like to know why the headlight switch lights up the inside of the closed glove box. Mazda says this is normal. Maybe I can grow plants in there!

Hmmm, a week and a half later and no email invite. Rather disappointing. I was rather looking forward in providing input on improvements for the RX-8.

Paid? Really?

All they said was that they might send me some cupons for free oil changes...

I completed the survery a month ago. Nothing to date.

Tell them you want an optional 20b Installation when you buy your brand new RX8.

Thats something alot of us would like to see, but will never happen. :P

OK - someone call me - I love focus groups! I've done a few on other cars, Ford and Chrysler and would love to participate! Yea, and I need the money for mods... to be totally honest!

I've been called twice. The last call was yesterday. Gave them my e-mail address. Waiting to see what transpires.

Finished Focus Group

Well..

The focus group was not what I expected...
Typically they are a bunch of people in a room talking about various topics...

By Virtual.. i assumed we'd be in some sort of chat with the engineers and people running the groups.

Nope...
This actually turned out to be a Focus SURVEY

Below is the email I received the other day:
Dear Mazda RX-8 owner:

Thank you for your purchase of the Mazda RX-8. We sincerely hope you enjoy your new car.

We'd really value your input about the vehicle. Our goal is to take your feedback and share it with our engineers and key manufacturing plant personnel. Your thoughts and opinions will have a direct impact on our manufacturing process.

Below, you'll find a link to a quick questionnaire about your vehicle that should you take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. We'd greatly appreciate your participation.

To start your questionnaire, go to:

http://autos.whoscalling.com/mazdarx-8

(If the link above is not hyperlinked, please copy and paste it into your Internet browser address box.)

Thank you,
Mazda North American Operations
7755 Irvine Center Drive
Irvine, CA 92618-2922
The questionaire is also not very friendly, with you having to enter your email address for each topic.. and if you have multiple concerns per topic you fill out a 2nd form for each. I guess each filling out generates an email to be sent to a specific area in Mazda.

Oh well at least we got to give our voice something

Also.. the link above seems to either be deactivated now.. or being hammered as I could not go back and any information today, it keeps prompting for a login/password and or survey ID. (My guess is it's just hammered)

YOu also could only send a comment if your email address was on file as being one of the recipients of the email above, so no use entering a comment if you didn't get the email (I tried faking the email and it didn't like that

I took the survey the other day... what he said. Also, for those who remember, I could've sworn I heard the lady say it was a paid focus group. I must've been hearing things as I'm pretty sure no money's involved.
