Unhappy Frontend cover

I am thinking about a frontend mask/bra. Does anyone have one, any opinions. I daily drive this car and the front is getting wreaked. Mazda makes one for the car as a factory accessory. I heard it "may" scratch, but what is worse a few scratches or a nicked and blasted nose.

Do a search for "Clear Bra". It's the way to go. I had one of the vinyl black bras on a Celica GTS for many years. After a while you get lazy and don't clean it properly after EVERY rain, and using it in the winter is a No-No. After that experience, I knew I needed a better option for the '8. The "Clear Bra" (generic name) is the answer.

Go to this thread for my experience. There are many others.

Question: Is this something an installer custom fits to the shape of your car, like window tint? Or is it precut for certain makes/models. In other words, could you have it done to a Mazdaspeed front end?

Not sure about the brand glassetcher has but the one I inquired about comes in patterns. here's the response I got recently.

Thank you for email inquiry on the 3M Paint Protection Film.
Congratulations on the purchase of your new 2005 Mazda RX8!

We do have a pattern for your vehicle which covers the full bumper,
hood, mirrors - the cost for this kit pattern is $550.00, which also
includes labor and material. We also have a head light protection kit
which covers only your headlights which is $100.00, also including labor
and material.

If you have time, please take a moment and visit my website at
www.invincaman.com, and feel free to pass this information along to your
other fellow RX8 owners out in the central Florida area.

So, I'm not too sure if it's a pattern for the front from which the material is then cut from or if it's actually pre-cut from the material ready to apply.

From my experience, most of the major "clear bra" players do a computer cut for a standard car. ie. - no aftermarket add-ons of bumpers, spoilers, etc. For those situations, you need to find an a installer that can custom cut a pattern for your car. From my research I would, however, avoid an installer that cuts the film ON the car. That is, he puts a large piece of bulk film on the car and then cuts it to fit. If you get someone that does not have a GREAT deal of experience in doing this, he could cut through the film and the paint, which may result in rusting at the cut point in the future.

The '8 is a very difficult car to do. So, find a reputable installer!
