BMW M1, and no not the 80s one

Does anyone have info if BMW is bringing their 1 series (avail in UK) to the US? Rumor has it on the s2K site and other places that not only is BMW bringin it over to the states, a M 1 version of their entry level hatchback is also coming and its supposed to be quite a beast. Did a search didn't find much....thoughts?
here are some pics of the UK stock version

Well that's an interesting car to bring over here. I think it could probably do quite well in this market if it's reasonably priced. Sporty hatchbacks seem to be the hot commodity again.

They are from a reputable British press/broadcast station: http://www.channel4.com/4car/gallery...s-mdesign.html

yeah, maybe that or the 7series. I was excited to hear about a possilbe M level BMW hatchback , but if it looks like these pics maybe not. I'd say the A3 looks much better, especially if they make an rs3. That being said, not sure im ready to even embrace the whole "euro hatchbacks are in even thoogh they look like station wagons' kick.

the 1 series is over in Europe. we, the US, are supposedly getting this 1 series but under the 2 series name. odd numbered series are 4 door sedans and even numbered series are 2 doors. those spy pictures are definately not the M. the M is rumored to come out with a newer version of the S54 motor. the regular 2 series are supposed to either come out with a turbo charged 4 cylinder or inline 6. again, this is all rumor cause BMW is really good at keeping things hush hush. that's all i know/heard about. bunch of rumors flying around BMW's name. supposedly bringing diesel to the states, an M4 (V8 powered Z4), and maybe an X7 (bigger suv).

I'd buy a little ///M hatch like that. It would be a fun little track car.

That BMW looks sexy. I would probably buy one if I was looking for another car.

I'm sure that all of you who think it's "neat", went right out and bought the 318ti. Then you stepped right up and got the C230 coupe, right :D

From what I've heard, the 1 series is coming over here in due time. IIRC, there will be no M1 here. We will get a 130i though, with the new 3.0 liter from the 330i. It's supposed to be quite the beast on the track.
