anyone here not living in the U.S.
petrol here is approx 84pence per litre (us $1.56 p/l) and has been the basis of a lot of political debates. The majority of people are concerned about this, it i also the reason why a lot of nearly new rx8's are available.
the difference in gear ratio and consumption would be attractive to a lot of people because of this.
Also the 5 speed is 1 insurance group less which also makes a significant difference.
I couldn't get anyone to give me a reasonable insurance amount on the 6 speed, but i could on the 5 speed.
The only downside is the 5 speed has 192bhp, and 0-60 times are 0.8secs slower but it does have a little more torque.

I have a 6 mt. Don't think you will see any real difference in fuel economy with the 5 speed.
I was going for the 5 speed to start with but had trouble getting colour I wanted.
I'm glad I got the high power now, as you get a lot for the extra money.
As for the insurance you need to have a really good shop around to get a good quote.

your probably right, there probably isn't much difference in fuel economy but i didn't realise at the time. the 6 speed are priced very similarly anyway and if i knew then what i know now, i would have got a 6 speed.
not too fussed though, i can always upgrade and i'm not disappointed with the one i've got so i'm happy.
I had zero no claims bonus so insurance was the major factor. Most places said i need 2 years no claims before they would insure me, plus i'm 25 so it's normally 26 when you start to get the better insurance quotes.
I actually got mine from middlesbrough cuz they had the colour and spec i wanted
