I'd take the Audi!

It's sexier, almost as fast (performance figures??? I'm not sure) far superior interior, extremely better looking, better prestige (call me vain, iduncare) newer design.

Audi's have not been rated very well for reliability these last few years and Mazda's seem to be in the top ten for most cars they make in thier perpective catagories. I love the Audi, but would probably go with the 6.

No overpriced German vehicles for me. I'll take that MS6 please.

MS6 for me--the Audi is slower and I absolutely hate the design of this new A4.

if the audi is overpriced at $28000, where does that put the 6. Or maybe you just want an "overpriced" Japanese car as opposed to the "overpriced" German one :p

the ms6 will probably out-handle that A4 by quite a bit... upgraded suspension for less understeer!!!!

IIRC the new 2.0T for the A4 rates at 200hp, the 2.3L turbo on the ms6 is 276 IIRC... noticeable power difference...

but the A4 definitely has major 'upside' in looks category, inside and *gasp* out

No way that Audi cost $28K

Good luck finding a new Audi A4 T with AWD for $28,000, not going to happen.

I would take the A4 hands down. Far better looking and far more luxurious interior. The MS6 may be faster and handle better, but who cares, its a big fat sedan and still handles like **** and goes like **** compared to a sports car. I would never buy a sedan based on its sportiness.

Whoa. The first I hear of someone not wanting a more powerful, better handling car. If the MS6 handles better than the Audi, but the MS6 still handles like ****, then what does that make the Audi handle like? **** with bricks super glued to the side?

As far as not buying a sedan based on its sportiness...I think you may have already...

I really like the ms6 on paper and the looks are schweet. I actually test drove the base 6 and was impressed with the handling. If you watch the speedvision challenge, the Audi and mazda 6 are always at the front. I just don't think mazda's AWD system can compare but I am interested to see some first drive comments. the 2.3L is a great motor and with a turbo it will compare to the sti in output. The audi is well a bit of a reliable nightmare. I have heard that the older a4's suffer from turbo related issues as well as electrical mishaps. Interiors will always be nicer in a european car imo.

I'm pretty sure BlueEyes doesn't have an RX8 if that's what you're referring to.

I'd take the A4 as well, I really like the new design, plus it's going to become a very, very upgradeable engine as it shares the engine with the new GTI. I also agree with BE about the interior, much nicer. The MS6 is going to be pretty quick, just not my cup of tea.

Sidenote--Mazda is pushing back the release of the Mazdaspeed 6 until the fall. They have their hands full with the Mazda5 and the 2006 Miata releases this summer.

I would love a powerful, better handling sports car. And, I would love a bigger, more luxurious, more gadgetty sedan. I am not going to go out and buy a sedan looking for performance, it doesn't make sense to me. If all things are equal, sure I would put performance into the equation. You want gobs of performance, buy a sports car, you want lots of luxury, buy a luxury sedan. The only way I would shop a sedan like this is if I had a performance car already or if I planned on getting one, so IMO, I would take the A4 over the faster, yet less refined and uglier MS6.

As Aoshi mentioned, I don't have an 8, but I do want one. In the RWD, 4 seat world, the 8 and the mustang are really the only cars within reach and which offer some performance.

I have to say that ford did a great job on the mustang. interior and exterior are above any mustang in the past. It just doesnt suite my style. but a great car nonetheless.

I'd buy the Mazda 6s with a nice CAI and suspension set-up, drive circles around the Audi A4 and get a nice Go Kart or a Motorcycle with the remaining cash.

Hey I am forced by DarkMAZ8 to choose between the two cars, otherwise I would've gone with a Dodge Magnum. That said, I do think German cars in general are overpriced.

Even though you may not fit in this demographic, there are those that want a 4 door car for cargo, kids, but also want performance. That is what the MS6, and anything else that has 4doors and performance is for. Performance and Sedan can go hand in hand. You 2-doors can't have all the fun

im sure there are people that would like the ms6. Fortunately, the thread did not ask me to choose for someone else, it asked me to choose for myself, and give reasons. I chose the A4 and gave my reasons. Incidentally, I would never buy an A4, or Ms6. If I was looking for a sedan, it would be a used LS430.

I just don't like cars that try to do too much. You can buy cars that are decent at everything or wonderful at specific things. I'd rather spend money on the latter.

Funny that u said that,

I have a sweet Black on black 1998 ls400 with 135000km for sale. I too want to upgrade to the ls430, I love the new front end of the 2004 and up. I also heard that lexus is bringing the hybrid ls600 in 2006. I might have to wait and see before I make my final decision. The LS series is the best reliable luxury bargain on the planet. A used ls400 or 430 drives better than most new cars. They last forever and need as much maintenence as a camry.

As long as you got a toy car to play with I can say that the ls series is the best daily driver I've ever owned.

it's not both at the same price dude..!!! if like 4wd a4..it should over 33000...
the performance ms6 it should be better than a4. and it's cheaper..!!!
but I will go with a4 anyway..!!!! U know.. I like to go with something more luxury. haha..since .. ms6 can't beat evo and sti..and a4 can take out civic and rsx those crap easily. so it's not a big deal to me..!!

Whoa, how much would those run you tho? New LS430's are what? 60-70K? They're crazy man. Massagers and reclining backseats?

My dad has an LS400. Kinda sucks since it's before a lot of the kick *** features were introduced. It was also a heck of a lot cheaper though.

The car is huge and it feels huge when you drive it but man it is a nice ride (not from the driving stand point but from the comfort stand point). It's probably got the nicest ride of any car I've been it. The engine is quiet but plenty powerful, bumps on the road are damped like crazy, the steering is a little TOO easy and I find myself turning the wheel too much sometimes. My dad loves it.

But out of the two options here, I'd probably get the Audi. The MS6 is alright and has nice stats but I think it looks too much like a 20K car. The Audi looks more refined but admittedly I don't like the front any more. I liked the older ones better.

*cough* GTO *cough* ahem... OK, I guess that depends on what is "within reach"...
