And a couple more.

You can see in some of the images how the new suspension mods are working by keeping the car pretty flat through the corners.

All I can say is that was a lot of fun. :D :D :D

Those are really nice shots. I assume you were driving, so who snapped the pics?

THe suspension mods are Whiteline Swaybars with new bushes and King Springs. These are products most guys in the states do not know but are well respected in Aus. All up for the sways & springs it cost me roughly $400.00 (Aus Dollars - $300 US). We have some pretty good aftermarket people over here who do fantastic product at pretty good prices.

Yeah I was driving. I set the camera up on a tripod and set the timer to shoot at intervalls around different sections of track... just kidding.:p :D The organiser of the day actually arranges a professional photographer to spend the day shooting the action. Then for $50 you get a CD with all the images of your car in hi res. I ended up with about 25 photo's.

Yeah the Kings lower the car. About 30mm up front and enough at the back to give even front and rear wheel arch gaps. I just did not get a measurement for the back drop.

The King Springs cost me about $170.00 for all 4. Of course that's Australian dollars. I have found them so far to be fantastic.

How did the car perform relative to the other cars out there? (Considering this was your first track day of course )

Well the morning session everyone passed me from Mini Cooper S's (upgraded to john cooper works spec - 150 odd kw & with semi Slicks), porsche boxsters, BMW Z3 (2.8l V6), Evo, STI, Ferrari 360's etc.

After a good seesion with one of the instructors teaching me I came out just in front of a Boxter and was able to hold the same gap between us and in the process was able pull in and pass the 2.8l Z3 and the worked mini's. Afterwards the boxster driver came in and congratulated me on my improvement as he said he was doing everything he could to catch but just could not!

So I think the car performed very well. There was also another forum member there Atridge with his black 8 who again was lapping faster than me but he has already done a few of these days with the instructors so his driving was far better.

Man, is that a FPV Falcon in that shot?

Great shots, but I can't help drool over the Falcon even if it is only seen a little bit in one photo. If that was an option here, it'd be a hell of a choice between the RX-8 and that.

Yeah, its a FPV GT with the 290kw Boss V8. Surprisingly not that fast. In that shot I just came out onto the track after lunch and so let him go through while I warmed everything up. Once warmed up I started to pull him back and surprisingly on the 2 long straights (200+km/hr or for you yanks 125+ miles per hour) the ford did not really pull away. The driver was just not able to carry the corner speed. He was having real tyre problems and by the end of the day had completely destroyed a brand new set of Michellin Pilot Sport. The sad part was he did less laps than most of us.

They drive real nice on the road and highway but certainly are not meant to spend time on the track.
