Engine Smoking After Heavy Driving / Abuse

my good friend just resently bought a used rx-8 2004 with just over 30k on it. We drove it, not hard at all, Did no more then 4 neutral drops and did over 100 for less then 30 seconds, and when we pulled over to park the car the engine started to emmit smoke. I dont know what it is neither does he. the car is an automatic to. THis may or may not have something to do with it. THis smoke comes from under the hood not from the tail pipes.

Also the car transmission makes a very loud noise when it is put from park to drive. And the tranny slips while its in normal drive and tiptronic. My friend is going crazy, any thing that you guys could tell us would be a great help.

Oh wow, glad it was only 4, if you do 5 or more, you could REALLY hurt an automatic tranny.

I originally thought it might be an Id-10T error. :D

Did your friend keep the car in second gear the whold time going 100? And by neutral drop you mean gassing the car in neutral until the revs are way up, and then slamming into gear in an attempt to "drop" the transmission out of the bottom of the car?
Either one of these could cause one of those Id-10T errors.

You should look at your state's lemon law. There's definitely a problem with that tranny and more than likely it has nothing to do with the 4 tranny drops your friend did.

I think more than 2 Id-10T errors and Mazda will buy back the car no questions asked

Negative...I can't believe I enjoyed that stuff when I was 16, or if I DID, I NEVER used my youth as an excuse.
