There seems to be a trend in car photography to blur the wheels to make it seem like there's some kind of speed thing going on. Me, I'd rather see what the rims look like sitting still, cause they all look alike when photoshopped to simulate speed. Even the header on these pages shows a red RX-8 with blurred wheels, although that shot might actually be legit. Or not. Anybody else share this little pet peeve of mine?

I think it depends on the overall style and set up of the shoot. I don't mind it if it's a moving shot with blurry background. But if it's supposed to be a still shot, yeah, I agree, it'd be nice to see the rims.

The one above, I'm pretty sure it's of a still shot made to look like it's moving, could be wrong, but at least they (not sure who edited it) made an effort to motion blur the background giving the car a sense of momentum.

Insane, no. Crazy, maybe. By the way, I saw a newspaper ad today for a Range Rover. The usual blurred wheels and blurred background -- and no driver.

lol ^

On another thing, if they truly are moving you can see the brakes disks and calipers 90% of the time. If they're photoshopped they usually just make it darker behind the rim or something.
