Thats from an old magazine... it will look nothing like that... even the editorial is tabloid style "Target Nissan 350Z", the supra would have a spec comparable to its old nemesis, the GT-R not the little brother 350Z.
Dont believe what you see in the tabloids yet, the real thing is still far off.
That frankencar is made of bits of Aston DB9 in the rear, Jaguar XKR front, bits of Banglish Z4 edges in the body...

The pics you attached are of the Alessandro Volta, a concept hybrid engined sports car, with mid driver seat, McLaren F1 style... again, too far off to be a supra.

The LF-A concept recently is also an SC430 replacement, not a Supra.

If you dig up the tabloids you would see hundreds of "new Supra" renderings, some with porsche head, McLaren body, etc. etc.

Yeah, it definitely won't look like that purple car, which is an Aston Martin, Corvette, old Hyundai Tiburon rehash. And that old Volta concept car (the one in red) is crap. The production car won't look like either pic.

What do you mean au contraire? The convertible Supra pics from that URL doesn't look anything like the 2 sets of photos above.

But it was just posted by edmunds on 2/28. Bottom line is that we just gotta wait. There are too many rumors of what its going to look like. Kinda like the rumors of what the rx7 and gtr will look like.

I think the GT-R is supposed to be based off the Infiniti G35

Well the last Supra ended costing almost $50,000. Gee, I wonder why they cancelled such a wonderful car? So, unless they can get the price in line with the RX-8, meaning $35K loaded, they can forget it. The truth is that very few people who can actually afford sports cars want them. Price them over $30K, and the market sharply drops off, IMHO. Sports cars are a gamble, this one better seat 4, and it better not cost too much. I have little chance of affording a sports car anytime, but I am a diehard fan, as my first car was a Datsun Z. My father, on the other hand, is a physician. I remember going car shopping with him once and he wanted to go look at the Supra. The salesperson stated (with a straight face) that the 50K sticker on the Supra was serious. He laughed at the salesman and we promptly went to the Porsche dealership, were Carrera 2's were below $60,000. He actually ended up with a 91 Corvette for about $26,000, which was an excellent value, and the best of the three to have an automatic in. My point is, I don't care what the car may be "worth", if they don't price it at a point where they cannot sell enough to make money, then it's a moot point. I remember we used to have a wide selection of Japenese GT cars in the 30K range in the early 90's. Where did they all go? They are slowly coming back with a healthy dose of practicality both in ergonomics and value, after they realized that the public would not pay whatever they asked. OK, rant over, kinda off topic, but based on the Toyota Supra, which had the highest most ridiculous price of any Japenese sports car when they canned it.

The reason the Supra was so expensive at that time, was the Yen value...and don't forget, the NSX was even more expensive. You get what you pay for when you look at Japanese cars IMO...(except the current NSX). That's the reason the Rx-7, Supra, 300zx and the other high performance Japanese cars died out...yen at the early '90's. You're also not taking into acount the quality of the Supra. That JZ motor is bullet proof....they hold their value's pretty damn good. IMO, $50 for a new supra back in the mid 90's is a good deal, considering theyre still selling for around $30K and up today with relatively high miles. Let's see a corvette or any other sports car do that.

The red car on the photographs is the Volta concept car. 400 hp hybrid engine, very interesting imho, but so far Toyota announced they're not gonna manufacture it.

The yen/dollar value comment is backwards. The dollar has fallen in value against most othe denominations, therefore products should be more expensive from other countries. That is why Japan is now producing as much as possible in other countries now. That considered the 8 is very nicely priced.
