At Work Waiting To Pick Up My 8 Tonight!!!

This has been the longest day of my working career! I pick up my 05 Titamium GT tonight at 6:00.

To pass the time I was wondering if there is anything maintenance or care wise that you didn't do from brand new?

So, not your most productive day at work, I'm guessing... :p

I'd suggest you make a delivery checklist -- body, interior, make sure the latest flashes are made, etc. I had over 100 items to look at when i got mine.

Maintenance-wise, do a proper break-in (search for this). Spend the first few miles getting used to the steering and overall handling.

Only thing i did when it was brand new way to buy two blind-spot mirrors.

If you're going to get a clear bra, now's a good time.

Mostly, though, chill out and enjoy it.

Adrien - thanks for the response....yea it's a great day at work

I have read about the flashes many times on here. I think I have an understanding of them and that the current flash is the "N" flash. My only question is does the dealer know what the " N " Flash is? Is it a tech term used by the mechanics or just board slang for something more technical? I need to know so I can ask them tonight.

Thanks for the tips and I will be relaxing and enjoying rather than beating it like I did the 04 I test drove!!!

Congrats!!

Other than enjoying the car read the owners manual.

Heres one of the proper break in procedures members follow. http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm

Make sure the recalls have been done (if applicable), especially the air bag one.

What a weekend you're gonna have, lol...

Call up your wife/signifant other. She will see less of you when the 8 takes over your life.

Dealer should know. If you do a search here you can get the official code and bring that with you. You can ask them to verify that's it's been done, and not take the car until it's complete. It only takes a few minutes -- they just plug in the computer and let it do its thing.

Whenever I get a new car I like to fart in it the first day. You know, to kind of break it in and mark my territory all at the same time.

It's going to be dark. Make sure you take a good flashlight and park somewhere where there's some light. It's best to do a thorough inspection of the body and interior BEFORE you take it off the lot. That way if something's wrong it can be dealt with without any issue of whose fault it is. Most likely everything is fine, but no sense starting on the wrong foot.

Once you get it, consider doing something to protect the oil coolers and AC coils -- see the DIY section.

Mmmmm! New Car Smell!
