Hmmm ... looks pretty sharp. Probably because it looks like the 8. Heh heh. Good find! I thought that the 8's rims were only for the 8; like the Mazda 3 rims are for 3's only. Maybe I'm just nuts.

ahem...exactly why does it have the rotary shape on the hood? or is that more of a circle? And why does it have our wheels?

How credible is this source? Because the first rendition looks very different from the 2nd rendition (two-page spread) (i.e., different grill, different indentation on hood, different rear, etc.).

The first part of the pic is obvious photoshop, cmon now, rotary bonnet, the exact rx8 wheels, sorry that wont happen.

The second part pic look more like the real thing.

But then again, the side flares look too Audi TTish

And the pics are taken from a Japanese car tabloid, they regularly do renditions, some accurate, some not, those are definitely nothing official from Mazda.
But rather than speculate, why not wait a couple of weeks or so? Its coming out! Be patient

Seen this already in another thread. There was a guy actually driving one, but then we *well the posters* decided that it was a photoshopped image. But the drawing and the one in the article look identical.

They are all photoshop 'expected' design takes, look at the paintwork - too fake looking.

We've had similar things over in the UK with Autoexpress and other magazines having snapped 'disguised' versions of it and 'extrapolated' the design into a mock up.

Until we see an actual photo we won't know, these are all guess work so far.

Those are ALL photoshop 'drawings' if you will, but they certainly are not photographs of an existing car.

Further, none of those are what the NC Miata will really look like. As mentioned, the Autoexpress and Autobild 'pictures' are quite poorly done photoshop jobs, with obvious differences from the real prototypes that have been photographed wearing disguises.

So, to everyone - don't bother debating the hood indent, fender flares, etc. - chances are very good that the real NC Miata will NOT look like these photoshops, the details are definitely going to be different.

(Another example - the rear view shows a third brake light stuck on top of the trunk lid. WTF? Miatas have always had a properly integrated third brake light on the rear face of the trunk, not something tacked on top. Mazda will not be doing a half-assed job like those photochop jobs show.)

PS - the real NC Miata will be unveiled March 1 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Regards,
Gordon

Unfortunately, that pic has nothing to do with what the actual NC will look like. That white car was an engineering test mule - it's sole purpose was to test the mechanical aspects of the car, like engine, drivetrain, suspension, chassis. The bodywork on it was cobbled up - it IS an RX-8 front on that car, and it IS an NB Miata rear on the car. Those body parts were only installed to cover the mechanical bits underneath, and never had anything to do with the actual exterior appearance of the final NC Miata.

Regards,
Gordon

My $0.02

As much as I've read throughout the years on this forum, I've noticed that, though their may seem a cold or abravise tone sometimes in Gordon's posts, he always seems to be right. I know that Gord's an 'insider', so even if I don't care for his 'forum-tone' from time to time, I'm going to take his word when it comes to things like this.

I know there was a running debate and huge 'tabloid outcry' on this issue in a previous post, Gordon, but please, PLEASE tell me their may be a shadow of a chance for a 'rotary option' on the new Miata...

Oh the thought makes me drool... :D :D :D

Thanks a bunch, Gord' for all the info!

If there were it wouldn't be an MX-5 it would be another RX-?

(Miata = MX-5 in Europe)

All rotary powered cars ar named RX- so I'd say its more likely for a 2 door RX-7 replacement than a rotary powered Miata.
