I can't quite get a handle on how the 2 tone interior will look? Will it look sporty or gaudy? I've never really cared for red or black leather interiors. I personnally like a lighter tan leather but that's not an option. I have mixed emotions on the 2 tone seats/interior. For those who have actually seen the red/black interior what do you think? For me, since I'll be getting a black or silver exterior it's either all black or black/red (I REALLY don't like the black/brown - it's more brown than tan - combo).

 

I love 2-tone interiors. I'm getting the red/black leather (with titanium gray exterior). A friend of mine had a Mercedes SLK with a charcoal/ecru (sort of a grayish white) interior, and it looked sharp (though the leather was of poor quality and didn't hold up well).

 

I saw both black/black and black/red. I was not impressed with the black on black. It looked plain. The red inserts give the interior more shape sportiness. I am going with the tan (Brown) inserts because i think it will look classy

 

When I saw the black/red interior that's what sold me on the RX-8 and the body also looks a heck of a lot better in person. I'm still undecided but the black/red interior is what has the idea still strongly hooked in my mind. So yeah the red/black looks awesome.

 

I love it, my wife hates it. She says it's very gaudy. So, I'll probably get cloth. It's two tone grey & black (my wife also feels it's stylish), and it's cheaper and lighter as well.

 

The first RX-8 pic I saw was the Yellow with Yellow/Black leather interior - stunning. Sadly I couldn't get that combination so went with Red/Black and Velocity Red exterior. I just cannot imagine getting this car with a plain black leather interior - too dark and claustrophobic.

 

The red interior is really sharp looking. It keeps an otherwise dark interior looking bright and sporty.
I also agree that the tan inserts give it a upscale look.

 

I wish the cloth has a two tone (gray/black) interior to choose, just like in the M.S. Protegé. To me two tone looks sportier than just one.

 

well it certainly looks two-tone despite what mazda has to say:

Yea, I think the 2-tone looks good, but could look better if they offered more color choices. I'm getting Winning Blue, but had no choice other than all black leather. I think blue inserts with the blue car would look awesome, but it doesn't exist... yet. Or a gray insert with black leather maybe. Maybe later Mazda will offer more interior color options. But I'm completely happy with black on black in the Winning Blue! I just wish it would get here!

 

The roof (ceiling) is light in color so it isn't bad at all. I can imagine geting it in black...I did

 

It actually does - sort of a black with dark grey inserts (not that I've actually seen any cloth seats in person, yet, just the leather Black on Black and Black with Red inserts), but if you do a search for cloth, you should be able to get an idea. Elara took some pic when she was at the Detroit Auto Show, last January which show's the color the best ... check them out! Plus East Moon took some great pics of his car too. Have fun surfing.

I had the same thought too initially. I am gettin the blacke fabric and in the process giving up the two tone look. It's too hot here in the desert for leather.

... I didn't mean to slight you in anyway, it's just that almost evey photo of the cloth seats ands up looking washed out and grey from the camera's flash (like the one you posted on the first page for example) - not black .

Sorry, what I should have also stated in my earlier post, is that in that link I gave - shows more of a close up on the cloth seats with better detail of the different mix of fabric texture (from East Moon's RX-8) and Elara's shows the truer "black" color.

All in all, if you adjust (in your mind's eye- because my attempts in Photoshop didn't work) that the floor carpet is a rick black, than all of the other similar (grey looking) tones would really be black, too!

 

Love them. Just wanted the yellow and blue as well as the red.

 

I Love the Red and Black interior along with my 16 year old son.
My wife hates it. Unfortunately, she will be the ultimate driver of the car so I have to go with her wishes.
She will drive the car in a year after her existing lease expires. I will have it for the first year:D
