Hey folks! Here is what everyone has been waiting for:

The OKC RX Club’s first 05’ meet!

The meet will be at our usual spot, Sun 02/13, 11am at Hefner Lake. (See Attached Map) Figure on 30-45 min hanging out, to give the stragglers enough time to show. This, as always is a perfect time to meet and greet, group photo action, and conversation about our favorite toy! Meet to be followed by a short cruise to a local restaurant for lunch. Most likely TGI Friday’s, though Jason’s Deli was pretty good last time too. I’m open to suggestions for lunch. This meet will concentrate on getting us more organized, and spreading ideas amongst members. I’ve tossed the message out a week in advance, so hopefully we’ll get everyone out there.

Discussion agenda for lunch as follows:

• Finalize Club Name
• Club leadership & Organization
• Meet Ideas, places, events. (possible tentative schedule for future events)
• Any other ideas (I need those ideas! What would YOU like to see?!?)
• Anything else that comes up!

Lets make this a great meet, start getting organized, and most of all have a good time!

the weather is suppose to be bad on Sat. 60% chance of rain. We might have to switch to Sun.

 

We can't control the weather. It's a risk you have to take when planning these so far in advance. If the forcast doesn't look good for Saturday on Thursday we'll look at moving to Sunday, or changing plans to an all indoor meet.

This meet needs to happen, and we really need to have max participation from interested RX owners. The key thing about this meet is the dissusion at lunch. We'll be discussing how to plan and organize our group. I'm working to build a Club/Group thats going to last, and stand on its own. I have people interested in providing outside support for functions and meets. Many from local, dealers, restuaunts, etc. But I won't ask them to support a gaggle of 4-5 folks and their cars. We need to get organized, and increase our numbers. That means getting as many people on (or off) the mailing list as possible to this, and future meets.

Sorry for the frustration. I've been trying to get this group together for almost a year now. A ton of people have shown interest, while only a few 'regulars' have acctually shown. A few of those 'regulars' have even stepped up to help with planning, and others getting ideas flowing. For me this meet decides whether this is a club (Read 'organized'), or a group of friends who just 'happen' to get together for lunch once in awhile on Saturdays. I'll be a participant in either! The latter of the two sure takes a lot less time though...

Expect a further E-mail to be sent out on the mail list asking about alternate days and plans. I'll also be looking to get an idea of who will be attending. I know there are lots of interested owners out there. Lets go guys/gals! Help me, help us!

Well, the weather forecast for Sat. still doesn’t look so hot. So I’m looking at a few changes:

How would everyone feel about moving the meet to Sun. 02/13, same time and place? Option B would be just meeting for lunch at say 11:30, should the weather be bad. Please let me know, so I can get final words out to everyone. Also be sure to check the forum for the latest and greatest as it’ll be added to the thread. I’ll be looking to finalize around 3-4pm tomorrow when I return from work. Hopefully to an In-box full of your responses!

I’d also like to get an idea of who’s planning on attending. Looking forward to hearing from all of you, and most of all seeing everyone at a successful meet!

As it says, we might be making a change a plans due to the forecast! Keep an eye out for the mailing list, and this forum for updates as they happen! We now return you to your regular RX8 programing. :D

Okay folks, finalized plans have been sent via the mail list. I've also updated the post in this thread to prevent confusion.

All members who responded, agreed on a Sunday meet. So plan is Sunday, at 11am. No other changes. Thanks to all who got back to me.

Just wanted to say thanks to all those who made it out! It was a great day out and I think we all had a pretty good time. I'll post up some pictures here shortly! See you all at the next one!

Here are the dates for Hallet's HST (High Speed Touring). March 19-20, April 23-24, and May 28-29. Lets plan on one of these weekends to go have some fun on a real race track.

 

I am open for any and all of them. Even if only a handful of us can make it, it will definetly be worth our time. Jason or Jeremy, (as Jason I know you are preparing to be quite busy here soon) either of you guys get on organizing this (I can help if neccesary) so we can all add it to our calendars. I'm stoked!

 

March and possibly April are looking pretty good to me. Jeremy give me a ring this weekend and lets start collecting all the required info and put this together.

Anyways, is it only possible to rent the track during the weekends? because from what I see in Hallet's Motor Speedway website, the track rental fee seems to be alot more expensive on the weekend. Can anyone check if we can rent the track during weekdays? If this is going to happen, why dont we start a list to show interests?

Also, any other cars(different brands) allowed to join in this meeting? My friends are interested as well.

We wont be renting the track. Hallet does a HST (high speed touring). We dont have to rent the track. We just pay the $35 Comma Liscence fee(that last for a year) and the $75 for the day at the track. WE will get like 4 or 5 15min sessions on the track. They usually have other things going on that day.
