OMG! wife ok's wheel purchase!

Well, after six monthes of my wife catching me looking at wheels online. She finally gave in and said I can buy them. I didn't even harrass her about it. 10 years of marriage and you learn something. Of course she wants new carpet for the house. So here is what I decided to get Varden Sport Velbret by SSR. I'm not sure if I'm going with 18X8.5's or 19X8.5's. I have a sunlight silver 8, what coating does everyone seem to like? I'll update with pics, probably will take monthes to get these. Here's a link http://www.speedstar.co.jp/collectio...ret/index.html

I bet wheels themselves will be at least $2500

anyway, back to the topic.... dark silver/shaded chrome (not sure what you guys call it there :o ) will look great against the shiny silver 8

Congrats! My wife gave in on Christmas! The year before she gave in on the car itself

^^^ No kidding. Another reason to never get married -- why let someone else have control over what YOU earn? I can't believe how many men can't do this or have that because the wife won't give permission. You're all grownups, not little kids! If your wife doesn't understand or approve of your hobbies, why the @#$%^&* did you tie yourself to her in the first place?

Actually, my wife bought my 8, my MS kit, my stereo, and our house with her hard earned money. So I really don't mind when she tells me I can get stuff for my car. As you can see she is the bread winner here. It's like I have my own sugar mama.

^^ Yeah, it's not just about being whipped (although I am). it also becomes about paying bills..., lots of bills, house payments... ugh. It's not that we're really whipped, it's that our "voice of reason" has finally been installed. And there's no volume ****. :D

To tell the truth, my wife said, "go ahead buy the 8, you'll be happier". God bless her. It was between that or the celica GTS, which would have saved $4k ($$ being the only reason it was considered).

Good choice on wheels xrider, those look slick.

Well it looks like I won't be getting the SSR wheels. Unless this is bogus. http://speedoptions.com/forum/viewto...9a8f809701d4a5

I am whipped and proud of it - My wife knows how easily I press that "Click to Buy" button on some computer site for some new gizmo, so she watches me like a hawk. I need that control.

Of course, she also surprised me with my 8 as Christmas present because she's cool enough to loosen the reigns when we're financially ready to handle it.

If this is being whipped, bring it on!!!

Nice Flipstream! Young Grasshoppers will learn someday won't they?

We have 4 kids a Miata, RX8 and an MPV. 2 of those cars are mine The wife is next in line for the new Volvo but for now is content knowing she (50% breadwinner) has helped me become I am not ashamed to say we must agree on where the $ is spent. RX8/Rims/Coilovers make me happy, I make her happy!

All is fair.

Heh, heh... all i got to say is: TWO paychecks are better than ONE! We have a son (working on another one ) my GSXR-1000 (my rocket), my 8 (of course), a Maxima (my "winter/crappy weather" car) and a Navigator (hers)... not to mention the tax benefits of marriage--oh, and the wonderful home-cooked meals... :p.. BUT, as like our cars.. to each his/her own.

Congrats X-rider! My wife let me buy wheels and Tein springs this week. The other side to this story is on Saturday, she bought a $4000 diamond That's cool though. She wants me happy and I want her happy. I wish making money was as fun as spending money!

Well, since SSR is out of business I decided to go with the good ole' Axis Hiro in hyper silver. I know several peeps have these but they look so nice and clean, easier to clean than a mesh also. I went with the same setup as cortc, I will post pics later this week, they will be on Friday. I painted my calipers silver last weekend, so they should look nice with the big gaps in the Hiros. If the silver paint shows too much brake dust, I will probably paint them black.

xrider,

Nice choice; you will be happy with the Hiro's they are very nice... I also heard from some other sources that SSR went out-of-business... Strange thing is that it seemed like they were selling well; mine never showed up so I just got done ordering HRE 545 wheels...

Thanks all, I really would like to achieve alittle more drop in the front. Right now I have RB springs, which is only about a 1/2" drop. The ride is perfect. I would like to achieve a small amount more drop in the front, without losing too much of the original ride quality. Any suggestions on diff springs is welcome. I believe alot of peeps here run the Tein H?
