Exclamation Orange County residents, can you check a car for me?

First post, and already I'm asking favors! :D

I was on the phone enquiring for bargains on 04 models, and a sales type at Philips told me they have a Winning Blue 2004 with the Sport package and, allegedly, the Mazdaspeed body kit (front bumper, sideskirts and rear wing) and Mazdaspeed inteiror accent package installed. I was also told by this sales person that the car was kept in the showroom as "eye candy" (presumably to show off the Mazdaspeed bodykit), and has not been used for test drives.

Only problem is, the dude didn't sound like he really knew what he was talking about (in talking to him, I learned that he thought that BMW M cars came supercharged from the factory, and that the M3 had a V8. :O ) so I was wondering if I could possibly get the following information from any of y'all OC denizens:

1: If you're familiar with Philips Mazda, have you seen the car I mentioned, and can you verify if it's the Mazdaspeed kit, or just the regular Appearance Package front fascia?

2: If no one here knows, and has some spare time tomorrow, could you kindly swing by Phillips Mazda and take a look and post here or email me what kind of kit is on the car?

I ask because I'm down here in San Diego, and I'm set to meet the dude tomorrow after I get off work at 5. That's about an hour to an hour and a half drive. The price he quoted me was pretty damn good if it's truly got the Mazdaspeed fascia, skirts and bumpers on it.

For extra reference, here's what I know about it, as told to me by the sales dude:

2004 RX-8, Winning Blue
Mazdaspeed bumper, sideskirts and wing
Sport package
Accent package
Chrome 18" RX-8 5 spoke wheels

It's also been theorized that if they put the Mazdaspeed body pieces on, that it might have been put on to make a lot damaged car sellable. If the sales guy wasn't talking out his butthole, I intend to check closely for signs of repainting or other bodywork.

Thanks in advance.

The car is new, unregistered, never had a title, etcetera. From what I was told, the Mazdaspeed kit was installed by the dealership.

There is precedent for that, as one of the big magazines had such a car for a long term tester, albeit with a lot more Mazdaspeed parts on it (suspension, intake, exhaust, body kit, wheels), and it was a new car off the dealership lot.

Thing is, the guy I talked to didn't speak english that well, and I really don't trust his knowledge. A salesman lying to a customer to get him to come all the way in from San Diego? Naaaaaaaaah, never heard of that happening before! <sarcasm>

What I need is someone who knows the RX-8 from an enthusiast's perspective to go lay eyeballs on it, or who has laid eyeballs on it already to tell if it really is the Mazdaspeed kit, or a regular appearance package.

Did you meet up with that Sales person yet? Did you check out the car? If you haven't, I'll be more than happy to swing by Philips Mazda and take a looky. I agree with Triggerx1... this "deal" sounds too good to be true.

Triggerx1 ~ question for you... you have any problems with your front bumper chipping? MintBlue front bumper is made of FRP, no?
