My ac cycles on and off. I'm not sure how long it stays on, maybe 30 sec , but I let the car warm up for a full 10 minutes today, and it was still doing this. I can hear it, and when I opened the hood to check, the compressor was not engaged, then as I heard that familiar sound, the clutch on the compressor engaged it and it began to spin.

My defrost is NOT on. I know that the AC will come on when that is on. I called the dealer and they have no clue. I have an appointment tomorrow, but before I let them screw up my car, I thought I'd look for help here first.

Thats a new one to me. Take it to the dealer if they blow your car up they can give you a new one.
