I see quite a few Nordic Green 04s still left on lots around here. I am considering one but wonder what others have experienced with maintenance.

I have usually preferred white cars for looks and ease of maintenance. My cars get washed about twice a year, just before I wax them. And they never get inside at home or work. I don't care for the looks of black or the fact that they look bad the day after they are washed, everything shows. Grey and silver cars are everywhere these days and the blue and red are just too flashy for my taste, not that they don't look good.

The green looks different every time I look at it and it is starting to get to me. It is different, but I am not sure if that is good.

Opinions are welcome especially from those that have experience with the Nordic Green.

If you like the green, that is all that matters - as long as you plan to keep the car a long time.

If you tend to get rid of cars within a few years, you may want to reconsider unless you're leasing, as the dark green is going to hurt the resale value, or at the very least, hinder your ability to find buyers.

 

see a nordic green in low light and that is where it really shines...it looks black but with this sheen too it, really nice

I never considered it and am very happy with my silver but you can't go wrong with green...besides once you get the car you'll wax and wash it often cause you'll love maing your car look nice

 

I think I've only seen 2 Nordic green RX-8s in my life (here in Southern California) and I think it was the same car too, once on the lot and the 2nd time with a new owner driving it. I think they could/will be the rarest color for 8s - maybe collectable in 30years. I think they look classy, especially with the two tone interior.

However, the 2nd time I saw one it had dirt splashed up the sides so get the mud guards for the front for sure. I think it shows dirt almost as bad as black.

 

I think the Nordic Green is a good color. Looks black at night and in the daytime you have a green car. It's like 2 cars in one. Ha ha. I personally wouldn't do green but that's because I'm in love with blue. If I had to buy another color, it would be red or green. Or you can wait until North America sees the Mica Blue.

As far as I'm aware, the Green's are a new color for 05 ... maybe that's why you're seeing many of them on the lot.

Nordic Green is certainly a different colour....... I quite like it, even though I despise the colour green.

 

I saw a green recently at a dealership (I've owned my red for over a year now), and the green just didn't look very... green. It does have a lot of mica sparkle, and that's nice, but the greenness just didn't stand out enough for my tastes. To put my tastes in perspective, my favorite green for a long time was the early-mid nineties bonneville green. I luuved that color back in the day. Also, of course, Jaguar's British Racing Green is a classic.

I thought the green was rare too, but our forum polls show just as many greens as silver for some reason. Yellow tended to be the lowest and so many mazda did axe the lowest performer.

 

It's a very pretty color, BUT it gets dirty just as fast as black. I've given up trying to keep up with it. The car gets a bath once a month and that's it.

 

How do you only wash a white car twice a year, white is one of the colors that gets dirty the fastest. I like the nordic green a lot, though I'll have to admit I didn't until I saw it in person, it has a neat shiny metallic quality to it. I got the red because I like the flashy color, and also that there's tons of silver, titanium and black...but I do think the green looks nice. I enjoy washing my car so I do it rather frequently, and the red has been pretty good about not showing dirt...also, i think a dirty dark car looks a little better than a dirty light car

 

I love my Nordic Green--it reminds me of the Montego Blue of my old FD in the sense that it has a beautiful Mica shine. The fact that I see few Nordic Green's is a real plus as well. The Nordic Green is a very classy color, I believe the reason you don't see alot of them is because most people prefer sports cars in 'sports car colors'--the blacks, reds, and silvers. I don't care if it gets dirty frequently cause I keep mine washed.

 

I like my Nordic Green and hasn't been much an issue keeping clean.

Well, first off, my opinion is maybe you should get into the habit of washing your cars a little more often than twice a year.... you paid all that money for it... might as well keep it beautiful

As for green.... very nice colour but if you have issues with black, chances are you'll have the same issues with the nordic green

 

If your car "gets washed about twice a year," Nordic Green is not the color for you. (BTW, it's not a new color for '05; mine is an '04.) Try Titanium or Silver. It's true that the color is not very "green," an advantage in my opinion. The only "real" green I care for is BRG, but it should be on a British car.

Wrestled a bit with the issue of keeping it clean, (the NW is not the best environment for keeping a car pristine), and with the conventional wisdom that green hurts resale value. But I wouldn't have a black car. (My black Valkyrie gets dirty sitting in my garage under a cover.) And like you, red and "Winning Blue" were a bit too out there for my taste. In the end, the gorgeous Nordic Green won me over.

Interesting that there are "a lot of leftover Nordic Green" RX-8's on dealer lots in Florida. I think they're more popular in the Northwest where we have a strong preference for "green" things.

I sold a '94 Prelude in "Azure Blue" that was almost the same color as my RX-8 "Nordic Green," at least in low light. If I sell my RX-8, I think I'll claim the color is "Azure Blue." :D

 

In my opinion the green is just as bad as the black. I have to wash mine every couple of days...



...but its worth it! :D

 

I originally wanted Titanium for my 8, but it wasn't readily available in this area at the time (all the titaniums were PRE-ORDER cars already spoken for). The only readily available cars were Velocity Red (too many points on my LIC already) and Sunlight Silver (reminded me too much of an Accord), so I waited. I took a trip with a friend one weekend to a larger city so she could get an early jump on Christmas, when we drove by a Mazda dealership. They had two 8s in the showroom, so we stopped in on our way out of town. I thought, why would they put two Brilliant Black cars on the showroom floor... maybe one was an Auto and the other a manual. As I got closer, I noticed one of them wasn't black at all... it was GREEN! Looking closer at the paint, I noticed it had flecks in it... PURPLE FLECKS! The salesman told me it was called MICA. Ok, he got SOMETHING right about the car. Once I saw it in person, I knew that Nordic was for me. I found a Nordic GT 8 with the options I wanted and told the local dealer to "GET IT NOW". I left a deposit and the next day I went to pick up the car. As we pulled into the dealership, they had the regular Red and Silver 8s on their front line outside the showroom, and a Black one on the showroom floor, but where was my Nordic 8??? As we pulled into a parking spot I noticed an 8 around the corner of the building (looking through the corner of the building, through two layers of glass). That 8 looked blue, but not winning blue. I got out of the car and the color shifted from blue to purple... as I got closer it looked black, and as I turned the corner, it was GREEN. My baby is HERE!

Until I saw it in person, I wouldn't have considered a Nordic green 8. If Titanium was going to be a real bitch to find with the options I wanted, I knew I could live with Brilliant Black. The color chip the Mazda dealers have to show the different colors available on the 8 doesn't do the Nordic any justice... I think you really need to see the green in person to appreciate it.

 

Well, if anyone has a green they want to trade for a red I'm up for it! :D

 

The green with black/tan leather is sharp. Would also look nice with aftermarket leather, black/green with the green a little bit lighter than the exterior.

 

The Nordic with tan leather was my favorite. They had none on the lot but it was worth the wait. It is as bad as black for cleaning but my last car was a Navy Blue Z28 same problem there, so it didn't really matter.

 

Ya, thank the Brits for that color combo... Racing Green with Tan or Brown interior... looks good. So my Nordic HAD to have the Chaparral interior. As well as the matching parking brake, lighted shift **** and center console panels, all switched from black to "chaparral" :D

 

The first 8 I saw in the flesh at the mazda dealership in manhattan was the nordic green and it was the car that switched me out from considering the 350Z on the spot. Once I started looking for mine, the only other color I was considering was the titanium - side note - seems like for a lot of green owners, the choices were titanium and green..hmmmmm - when I saw my car with the tan leather, it was a done deal. Enough other people have talked about the color switch that I won't go into too much detail about it but the car is such a sexy little chameleon. The one other thing I noticed was that women - not girls - LOVE the green =-) Good luck !

My dealer (Seattle area) indicated that the most popular special order combination is Nordic Green/Chapperal. Not to offend, but I have a feeling that the Nordic Green appeals more to the (ahem) mature buyer. I've also noticed that the Nordic Green 8's I've seen on this forum and elsewhere are less likely to have the "appearance" package or other aftermarket body kits, perhaps for the same reason.

 

Green was my fav color by far. Turns different colors on you and no offense but red, blue, etc. just to common and bright for me. This is a unique color and I love it. Also, the mature thing could be correct. I am 37 and I don't have the accents or appearance and wouldn't have the spoiler if my son didn't say it needed to be on there. I love the clean lines on this car, less is better imo for this bodystyle. Old I guess, but I still rock Pantera, Korn, etc. in the cd player
