New RX-8

I just purchased a black 2004 RX-8 :-) I have been lurking this board for the past few days and read a lot of the newbie info. Just have a few of questions.

1. What type(brand) of oil is preferred? Synthetic or no?

2. Is the break-in period under 4k rpms for 600 miles? or 2000 miles?

3. What type of wax/detailing supplies are recommended for the RX-8?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Oh yeah, any other advice/comments for a newbie would be appreciated.

for the detailing wise... i personally use Zaino... do a search on the serch webby for Zaino products

for me... the breaking point is 600miles that mean the car is fully run-in at 600miles though the car nowadays is pre-run-in. during the periods of breakin i do not rev more than 3rpm

btw i'm driving a 6-spd euro spec-4

Congrats and Welcome!

1. A quick search will put you right in the heart of the debate...or when in doubt, refer to owners manual

2. Refer to owners manual

3. Check out the show and shine forum...lots of great ideas.

If you can spend some time reading the posts and using the search function (as poor as it is) you'll quickly become edjumakated to the ways of the 8

Racing Beat's recs for break in are the 2000 mile ones. First thousand no full throttle & under 4k RPM, Second thousand no full throttle. I'm following those just to be conservative. Now at 1558 miles and counting.

Zaino if you want mega-mirror gloss and don't mind a lot of work. o/w get a good carnuba wax.

Don't you grin like a kid every time you look at the car? :D
