I'm in Fl, so no reason for it to be dirty and it only takes an hour. It gets washed every week and a half.

How do you wash your car 5 or more times a month? There's only an average of 4.3 weekends per month!

Every 4-5 days whenever possible.... tough to do considering our water restrictions.

I have to say the long-term average over many posts will certainly be 4 per month....once per weekend. I mean, we all work right? How the heck else can we buy this car :D Wish my grandmother left me with millions so I could wash my 8 everyday :p

This is a testament to how obsessive most people on this forum are about the car. :D It's okay, I'm one of them. The poll question is too vague: are we talking about a yearly average, or a summer average? My response would change depending on the season. For this reason, I think the question should be directed towards different groups of people. In my opinion, the two most important factors affecting the frequency of car washing are as follows:

Those who live in cold climates, say north of 39 degrees latitude for North America, vs. those who live in warm climates.

Those who are married or live with a significant other vs. those who are single.

If I was single and living in Florida, I could see myself washing the car at least once a week. However I am married and I live in Detroit, so that's just not going to happen. As it is now with my 2 washes per month or less, I still hear the wife crowing "you are obsessed with that car!", "I wish you'd spend half as much time paying attention to me as you do that car!", etc. I'm making it sound a lot worse than it is--I love being married. You just have to compromise on a lot of things to make it work.

Too right mate! Good post. Need to qualify here. In Singapore...I can wash my car anytime I feel like it, and I do, but I work full time, so I wash every weekend, so I suggested 4 per month. However, if you live in Winnipeg, washing in the winter is like getting teeth pulled, you don't want do it unless you have to. And yet, regardless of all this, if your wife says spend time with the kids and forget the car, no matter where you live, it doesn't matter, you're lucky to get 2 washes in per month

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. I live in California, so I'm not very weather conscious. I can almost wash my car every week of the year if I wanted to. :D

So can yu in Detroit....just depends if u have to use DIY treatments vs. commercial car washes vs. chemical washes. If you live in a house and not an apartment, can find a way to use a fresh water hose to wash your car. If live in an apartment, use the DIY washes, but be careful of the spray.

Yeah, it's just a bigger pain during the winter. I do live in a house, and I COULD use a hose on the few warmer days we have during winter; however, what really concerns me are those long periods during which the temperature never rises above freezing. It's not smart to use a hose in those conditions, and I believe most of the "do-it-yourself" places shut down in those conditions due to hazardous icy conditions. This leaves no option but the dreaded commercial wash!

Once a week for sure. Sometimes 2-3 times a day if it is raining and my wife doesn't want to take out our 03 Accord because she is embarresed to drive it????????????
Simple concept, when raining, take already dirty car out.
Also if the 8 is cleaned and shiny, she hasnt grasped the concept of avoiding the lane with a huge puddle in it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh!
