Question WHY oh WHY????

Almost every time I'm out and I park in a parking lot. Somebody in a 350Z or G35 has to park next to me. There are other spots that in the open on the opposite side of the parking lot. I do this sometimes myself and I'm not complaining, just want to hear the reasons why we do it. So my question is why. And how many of you do this? Look it happened tonight!

I park next to nicer cars because there is less chance that they'll door ding me.

maybe the open parking spots are next to SUVs or pickup trucks ... they'd rather park beside somebody with a nice car who don't want to ding up their car either. Heck if it were up to me, I'd park beside the BMW rather than a Kia. My friend that I work with always parks his Acura TL beside mine cuz he knows I won't slam my door into his.

I like to compare them side by side. I always park next to a competitor/similar car when I can.

Hell, I live in a fairly small town. I park way out and come out of the store to find someone in an old piece of crap park next to me with many open spaces. Think it is just their way of pissing us off cause we have a nice car. would be different if we took up two places or something like that.

I'm with rotary Noob - I always pick the nicest car to park next to - helps guarantee mine will stay nice.

That and it is fun to see a couple of cool cars side by side.

He thinks some of the "cool" will rub off if he parks near you. ;-)

Maybe they just want to look like they're part of your "crew"

Its like ***** envy. They thought they were all that when they bought their cars, but then the 8 was released. They realized the mistake they made and have to compensate for their shortcomings!

a nice car parked next to yours isn't something to worry about.

it's only when you come back to your car and it's scratched to hell with "I hope she was worth it" that you realize someone has a car just like yours, and all is not right with the world.

Hmm, that's a good idea. Of course, the nice car can move and be replaced by a Dodge Dart. Better to park in the boonies where no one else is parked.

I don't know why... but I do it too!

Except when I parked it out the front of a five-star hotel (I got a cheap last-minute deal on the room) and thought it looked pretty cool.

Went outside 10 minutes later to take a photo and a 612 had parked just behind me. Suddenly, the 8 didn't look so cool. :D

They parked behind you because they know full well the 8 rules and is the preferred vehicle. When someone parks in front of you, he's trying to tell you he's #1. We used to paly these sherades in college, even if it meant parking illegally to make a statement! If you are Italian or Greek, you were raised this way and know what I mean!
