Just got my used RX8, is this good MPG?

Hey all,

I am happy to say I just picked up a 6speed GT with 28000 miles. On my way home, I made it 145 Highway miles on a half a tank of gas. Is that pretty good? I know there have been some concerns about MPG?

What does our tank hold anyway?
Sorry, I am a noob!

Thanks

you can't tell anything from that.

What you need to do is top off the car, drive around, then fill up the tank. Then take the number of miles driven, and div by the number of gallons you added to find out your mpg.

but, if you got 150 miles on 7 gallons of gas, then that is pretty good.

I do an oil change every 3,000. Some will do it at 5,000, others at 7,000.

Just be sure to check your oil level frequently. I find I need a quart every 1,000 - 2,500 miles - but it changes all the time.

You really have to do as JasonHamilton said : fill it yourself, drive it, fill it and compute mpg.

As near as I can tell, the gas guage is not linear in fuel consumption. That last 1/4 tank goes AWFUL fast.

I've read here, too, that that last line on the fuel gauge is the ABSOLUTE bottom of the tank, so don't press your luck with it! I haven't tested it out, but I don't really plan to either...

Yeah, do what they told you. Fill up the tank, drive around, fill it again and

Miles driven/fuel in gallons at 2nd fill up = mpg

Also, how much did you pay for it? 28,000 is high but I wonder what price you got on it. Let us know...

Congratulations!

I find that the "bottom half" of the tank lasts longer than the top half - only over a full tank can you tell your mileage.

That's awesome that you found a nice car - I know you've really wanted one.

Got the car for $21000 from a dealer out the door. Has every option except for Navi.
I LOVE IT!

Thanks for all the help!

Congratulations on the car, It took me a long time to find the right color and had all the options, it feels good when you finally find the one you want. Your mileage is on par for what I have read on other posts. Also I usually get my oil changed every 3000 miles and I check it every other tank of gas, better be safe than sorry.
