Nahh

Its fine the shifter does not get in the way. I shift through all teh gears fine with out touching it. What is great is this base serves as the fm mod and it also charges the Ipod at the same time. I have about 2,500 songs so i can drive for days. U have to see the people that see the ipod they are like what the hell "damm thats nice"

Looks good! It doesn't look the same mod as in the DIY forum. did you have to rewire the stereo?

how is the reception? I tried different fm transmitters but none of them gave good reception, that's why I decided to install a fm modulator. It works great...

BlueFrenzy Looks good! It doesn't look the same mod as in the DIY forum. did you have to rewire the stereo?

DETAILS!! = All i have to do is plug the dock and ipod into the cig lighter and get an open channel on the radio then presto i am listen to music from my ipod. There is no rewiring or anything in that sort. i can move it from my car to my brothers truck to my moms beemer ect it only needs a cig lighter outlet.

Recption is very good not exactly cd quality but its like listening to teh radio. Just find a clear channel and u are set.

Thanks for the praise for this gadget i love it this wed and thursday i spent about 10 hours in teh car and averaged get this 23 mpg

I don't want to take over your thread, but I was wondering if the IPOD would fit where I put a white box in the pic. I think you would have to move the buttons over 1 space, cutting a new space for the right most button. It's hard to say since I don't have the car. If this is possible, you might beable to flush mount the Ipod.

I have the same thing for my Mustang. It works absolute wonders. For all those people who are wondering, no, there is no rewiring of anything. What it is is a charger base for the iPod that plugs directly into your cigarrette lighter and comes with many attachments so you can position it however you want to. In addition to a charger, this is also a FM transmitter. Takes a signal from the iPod and broadcasts it at whatever frequency you choose. From 88.7 - 107.9. Unlike many others, that only allow 4 or so preset frequencies. It works absolutely flawlessly. I love it. Best $75ish I have spent on my iPod. If you have an iPod, get one! It also comes with perma-mount hardware that screws into a piece of trim on your car to mount the base permanantly and may be better to reach and less in the way.

Besides the fact that this is a pretty ridiculous suggestion.....

You would be leaning on the iPod when you shift....not a good idea. Maybe he could custom cutout a hole in dashboard above the nav system...

hmmm, I never thought of it like that because, well I don't rest my elbow anywhere when I shift. I take my hand of the wheel and place it on the shifter and then put it back. I can't see it being in the way any more than all the buttons that occupy the space right now, especially if it is flush mounted. If it did turn out to be a problem, I am sure one could make a flip cover using the cut out.
