Would a Michelin Alpine 245/40/18 tire fit on stock rims?

 

Yes, but why would you want to? A wider-than-stock size winter tire is a real bad idea - ideally, you want a narrower tire than the stock 225, a 225 is OK, but definitely NOT wider. (Tire Rack has an article about winter tire sizing in their Tech articles section)

Would the same size be a good choice in the pilot sports? They are not available in the stock size. I know wider is crappier in winter, but in summer wouldnt wider be better?
