I have the SR Motorsports flywheel. It weights about 12lbs'ish with the flywheel, counterweight, and bolts.. Compare that to the stock flywheel that weighs 17lbs and change.. I love it. Though, I do wish I would have gotten the Racing Beat flywheel and saved a bit of money.

I swear by Racing Beat products, go with their flywheel. You won't be disappointed at all. And it's on the cheap compared to some of their competitors.

Here's a pic of the SR Motorsports flywheel next to the stock one.

Somewhere around here I posted a set of before (i.e. stock) and after (in this case the RacingBeat LWF) 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear torque curves. Could provide the bhp curves as well.

Found the missing "link" with the LWF torque curves:

Installed the ATS & Across carbon clutch with flywheeel(4.5 kg), total weight of the assembly + mazda counter weight around 11 kg , overall drive feeling much better than the oem, but loud rattling noise from the clutch when accelerationg from 3300 rpm to 3700 rpm from third gear onward.

A flywheel replacement SHOULDN'T cause rattling! I'd take it back ASAP. Maybe they forgot to tighten a bolt!!

it is a shame you have to change the clutch with this one (not sure if it's fit for the 8 ether)

with the clutch it's 16lbs.

Got the MS flywheel installed last week. I am extremely impressed. Drivability is not a problem at all. I was worried more engine vibration, stallling with A/C on, etc from all the ***** stories I heard. But nothing like that, the car is still as smooth as ever, A/C on full blast hasn't stalled yet.

Only now, I can actually peel out from a dead start, burning rubber like they do on HorsePower TV. I can do donoughts in a parking lot without even trying. The car is a lot more responsive. The sluggishness that I used to experience in the low RPM range has disappeared and now there's whiplash all the way through the gauge. 1st gear redline beep occurs almost too quickly. Chirping out in 3rd used to require a lot of momemtum, now it requires none. I am eager to race and beat a 350Z. I have entire confidence that I could beat a stock Z. I have not done a 0-60 on it, but I know acceleration has noticeably improved. All that talk about "yeah, rpms go up faster but also drop faster" is bunk. I can not feel a difference in deceleration increase. With all the momentum that's put into the car and being that the car is accelerating 90% of the time, I imagine any deceleration side effects are minuscule.

If any stock RX-8s would like to race to put the flywheel to the test, please lets make arrangements. Its a shame the car didn't come with the MS flywheel to begin with!
