I apologize if this thread already exists somewhere, but I thought it would be interesting to ask all of my fellow 8'ers what other people have mistaken their cars for.

My favorite encounter was with a lady outside my apartment building who told me she thought my car was beautiful and asked, "is that a Maserati?"

"Nope, it's a Mazda ma'm. but it's not JUST a Mazda." (my reply)

It's so nice to feel like you're driving an "exotic" car.

What have your 8's been confused with?

That does not even make sense, sorry...but it just don't make no sense...

The VIPER is the ***** of the auto industry...8.3L of V-10 *****....

I love the 8, but don't bad mouth the VIPER...the car that made me a CAR GUY!!!

 

one of those "James Bond cars in that last Bond movie..." Told to me while waiting for the light to change from some guy in a truck.

A guy asked me if that was a ferrari! I was like WTF??? Where do u come from? IGNORANT LOL

 

Um, I don't think you get the phrase. People say guys with big cars (H2s) or very expensive sports cars get them because they're compensating for something. I can leave this vague but I'll just say it. ***** size. The fact that the Viper is so goddamn powerful means that the guy driving it has a lot to make up for. Hence the little ***** remark.

No one thinks the RX-8 is a faster car than the Viper.

 

Same here. I'm filling up with gas and a guy wants to know what kind of Ferrari it is. Duh, the front and back both have the Mazda logo on it

 

Most people mistake it for a fast car.

I've been asked if it was an Aston Martin before...kinda nice actually...

 

My Chiropractor looked out the window and saw my car and said to me "well aren't you James Bond?" (I'm thinking she assumed it was an Aston Martin).

I also had a local redneck dude in a pickup truck ask if it was the new Mustang.

I guess it's better than being called a Saturn or Hyundai!!!

 

I was asked at the mall yesterday, "Is that the 'Rotary'?" As if that was the name of the car. And then he asked if I would turn it back on so he could hear the engine.

 

i got "I didn't know they made light blue Porsches" ... yea boy!

also got "Did you re-paint the Aston?"

Of course the "x-men car" for the more enlightened (at least they got it right) and don't forget the ever famous "Britney-car"
