Gauging Interest : Meeting Sunday??? (TORONTO)

hey guys, just testing the waters. This sunday looks to be one of the last nice days before winter hits. Anyone interested in getting a meet together for the TO guys and gals????

[Moderator Edit] - Please put a location in the subject of a location-specific thread!! The rest of Canada is not going to make it to a meeting on Sunday in Toronto, and really doesn't care , so don't make us open the thread to find out WHERE you're talking about a meeting. Thanks!

A bunch of us are planning on a cruise day on Sunday... Nothing carved in stone just yet... but it's suppose to be nice for that day...

Does anyone want to make it official?

If Sunday holds for weather, I'll definately have the car out.

I'll keep this posted when our plans finalize.

Alright, we might be heading up to Orangeville or something like that.... Everything is still up in the air..

Anybody have suggestions?

We would really like to get a few good roads in before we have to put the cars away for the season....

Anybody? Bueller?

Man, I 'm fresh out of ideas for rds as the GTA is pretty much crap for traffic and roads. If you want we could just make it a meet instead of a cruise. :shrugs:

Suggestions:
D&B's (usual place)
The Docks (somewhere different but don't know if they are open on Sundays).
Somewhere not to expensive would be good.
Anything going on at Mosport this weekend? Any clubs have the track rented? or is it closed for the season?

daddyg, your best bet to learn maunal is to get out of toronto. Maybe try markham, it can be pretty quite there, and its only about 15 min up the 404. Also, when learning, make sure you stop and start ALOT!! most people i know when learning get confidence after they start rolling, because it is obviously easier to drive a standard car after getting out of 1st gear. Just make sure you get used to stoping and starting all the time.....just some advice. good luck with the 8!!

Unhappy Re: Meeting Meeting Sunday???? (Toronto)

Just sold my 99.5 GTI for a RX-8; love my RX-8 and would go on a cruise, but I am working this weekend, maybe next weekend. I do have a route map that the GTI cruise uses that I could fax or check out the routes listed on web site for "Great Ontario Bikeroads" (http://www3.sympatico.ca/elhum/) as possible roads.

I'm in as well. Not too late as I have to take the kids for Halloween.

In fact, the sooner in the day the better. Wrapping a lunch around the meet would be decent too.

If you want to go to Orangeville, lets meet closer to the west end. I.E somewhere on Hurontario (HWY 10).

QUOTE]

anything in markham north of 16th is pretty vacant....maybe try 16th and kennedy, and go north....from there its all little subdivisions and country roads....

Mic Jagger is on to something. I think I've been up that way a few year ago. its actually quite nice up there and the roads are windey up and down the escartment. The changing colours of the leaves should be pretty cool too. Whatever anyone else wants is cool with me.

Mic why don't you post a map showing where to meet, and which streets we are going to go up and down so those that are not familiar with the area will know where to meet and know where they are going to be driving. Also pick a time and a place to eat or drink. Then run it by everybody to vote on.

Time is a wasting!

I *like* the sound of this. For one, it will be the first 8 meet where I don't have to drive right across Toronto to attend.

Mic - I used to live in Burlington ten years ago.

Send maps to amur_@sympatico.ca and I'll put them up here...

Mic, going that far south and west is pushing it. I live in the west end but many live in the east and north end.

Kart Rider: You initiated the post. Pick a time and place and we'll all meet. Not much time left.

The Mapquest email never arrived...

So I went to Mapquest myself.

The Derry Road and Bell School Line intersection (NOT the farm's location):

The 403 and Bronte location:

To be selfish, I prefer the 1st meeting spot (Milton.) I won't have to drive as far nor fight with the local traffic in Oakville.

How about this:

Meet at Tim Horton's at 10am. Get your coffee and a munchy before heading out.

Drive.

Plan on hitting that farm you mentioned around noon. Eat a light lunch (don't want anyone to have a bloated belly making it hard to turn the steering wheel ) and drive some more.

I spent a LOT of time bombing around on those roads way-back-when, and assuming that they've held up since then we should have good, smooth, challenging and scenic drive. :D

See the 2nd pair of maps above.
