Questions on using 245/40-18 tires
With winter in Maryland not too far off I am looking into replacing my stock tires with all-seasons.
I have read positive posts from members who are using 245/40-18 -- and I am looking to do the same. I've been told that the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S are on national backorder, so I plan on putting on Continental ContiExtremes instead.
I am wondering:
1) Will my existing TPMS sensors work with these new size tires?
2) What psi should I put in these tires?
Thanks!

I can't find anyone who is willing to mount size 245/40-18 tires with the original TPMS in the Baltimore, MD area...
I've tried Mr. Tire and two Mazda Dealerships, and all say they won't do it... any suggestions???

According to all of the documentation/literature, TPMS is more reliant on rims than on tires.
One thing to keep in mind is that the TPMS will return a low pressure signal at anything under 27 psi (at least from my experience). If you need to run below that pressure to get a big enough contact patch, then there's no need to even worry about the sensors.
If nobody will install 245s, then you could maybe consider 235s. They're still wider than stock. However, depending on how winter is in your area, the difference in tread patterns may be more inportant than the difference in width.
