UBCSCC Autocross Sunday Sept12th!
http://www.revscene.net/forums/showt...hreadid=232911
this is hosted by the UBC sports car club, 20 bucks for the day, 20 bucks for membership in the UBCSCC.
Qouted from another post:
"@ Boundary Bay (Hwy 99 -> Hwy 17 -> Ladner Trunk Road -> no 80 street)
Get there by 8AM to do tech checks, do a few walk throughs, you're racing by 9. Get an hour lunch break, get out by four.
Sure sure, it's a Sunday and it's focking early, but it's once a month and it's pretty fun. Since most of us are magazine racers anyways, why not come out and experiance first hand what your car can do? Plus, even if you're not going to come out to race, come out to meet some people. I know I met a few of you guys there last time out!
You guys can do some of the pre-registration stuff here...

hope to see some 8s there tm!!!

too bad I couldn't see you guys there, sorry for the really late notice
It was super fun, a real eye opening experience since I've never been to an autocross (actually ANY motorsports event) in person before! I just came to th realisation that I suck at it :p There was one other RX8 there and that driver managed a time that was 12 seconds faster than my best effort and I had like freakin 5 DNFs out of 9 runs! :o (I tried to make myself feel better by looking under his car for any brightly coloured parts but no such comfort was found lol) For the first few runs I just couldn't "see the course" and ran my own little DNF course LOL. The day was a bit of a roller coaster for me as I ran like all DNFs in the morning and I was thinking "WTF????? God I feel embararassed" to a little better after lunch when I spent some time walking the track again (and realising that I wasn't running the real course for the whole morning!) and then back to "WTF????? I'm like 12 secs behind what ppl in my class should be getting!".
But in any case, I had tons of fun balancing the 8 on near sideway movements and scaring some ppl by almost wiping out the laser timer at the exit (I'm WAY too jerky with my manuevers.... need to work on that!) and I think I would've done a lot worse in any other car
My friend who used to autocross in that same club and came back from a 2 yr haitus in his slight modded (sway bars, wheels) WRX beat my best time with his by 3 seconds...
I kinda look forward to this driver training course I might take from that club on the 25th (look on www.ubcscc.com and check in the events or read about it on their message board!) and might be interested in their "slush series" when I get winter tires :D
Oh and one more thing I noticed.... I didn't know what worn tires FELT like until I touched my tires after autocross :p
