AutoEXE RX-8
I translated the information page on the kit and it didnt tell me much. All I could get out of it is that the kit will be called the RX-8 SE-02, for special edition. Sales will begin in Japan in July of this year. I couldn't find prices or anything else for that matter. So what do you think about it?

...and no, it's just a concept drawing for a body kit...
...i like the lower nose profile and the squared "chin", but the ducts are butt-***-(that's right: butt-***)-ugly: sooooo Honda it's just sickening... this is rotary for god's sake, not VTEC.
second thing, those vents just in FRONT of the front wheels ought to be functional (by which i mean creating downforce by diffusing the air entering those too-small mini-ducts below the oil cooler inlets), or not there at all.
...the skirts are stupid, as they add visual weight to this already tall-sided car: i'd like 'em better if they were not even half that height.
diffuser has a nice, neat appearance, but this drawing kinda hides it behind the hood of the red car... if they can figure a way of getting the air around that whale of a muffler (it'd be better if they made a kit for a smaller/straight through muffler) then it should be A-OK.

[edit]: btw, i love the spoiler :D
nice find Miata35 :D

FYI, the owner of Auto Exe is an ex-Mazdaspeed employee/engineer that broke off on his own some years ago (1997 I believe?). He also competed and helped fund last year's Mazda 4-rotor LeMans and 12 Hours of Sebring event, of which he was one of the "factory" drivers. He has more experience in prototype GTP style cars whereas Amemiya-san has experience with road-based chassis.
Most of Auto Exe's aftermarket stuff is much more conservative/OEM style than RE, not disimilar to Mazdaspeed from where he came.
RE-A is also not the only rotary guy in GT300. Revolution Racing and Axia both compete albeit with RE-A widebody kits.

i think the autoexe site (www.autoexe.co.jp) has some prices up. can anyone translate? thanks.
So for the off topic post or whatever.. I was just down in Little Tokyo(L.A.) at the Kinokuniya Bookstore and came across a magazine named "Cars" There's an illustration what the RE-Amemiya RX-8 may look like. Can't read Japanese so no details. Wide body! Looks nice. Check it out..
