Question About Caliper Position

Alright....I am a little puzzled here -maybe for nothing, but I still have to ask:

I noticed (duh!) that the front calipers on the RX8 are located @ 180º relative to the rotor circumference. I also noticed that a G35c has with Brembos has its front calipers positioned @ ~45º relative to the rotor circumference.

Question: is this a design compromise? or what does it depend on? does it affect braking efficiency?

If anyone knows what I am talking about, and is willing to type a few words to enlighten this numbnutts, I'll appreciate it.

Thanks!.-
