I AM PUTTING HRE 545 20's on my 8
The diameter of my rim are as follows
20 x 8.5 in front and 20 x 10 in the back
I know this has been discussed but not in regards with 20's
How big can I go without rubbing when making turns and even
if I have 4 people in the car
I was thinking 265 in rear and 235 front maybe
265/30/20
If someone cud give me the rest of the specs or like exactly wat the tired shud be
You would be saving my liffe

It depends on offsets? 20s are really way to large for the RX8 for many reasons, I would rethink and go with 19s...

 

mMm i think 20s would fit on the 8 if it was a wide body. but if just 20s on it normally is waay too much.

 

20-inch wheels will fit, but why? You could be happy with 18's, or at the most 19's. 20's are for rappers and athletes. :p

However, like cortc said, it's about offsets. Having the wrong offset will result in bad rubbing.

 

Are these the ones from Swift21? If so, they fit.

What I meant is that 20s and ones that are 10" running 285s are just way too big for the RX8... They are not practical and really hurt performance, they are 100% for show and not functional...

 

I guess the term "fit" is in the eye of the beholder. You are right, they are probably not very practical for everyday use, but they sure look good.

 

if you want to waste your money go for it its your car, but dont come crying when you keep hitting your fender or keep losing against people who try to race you on the street. HRE's are more for german luxury sport cars... IMO

No one here has flamed anyone, what are you talking about? In the end if he wants to go with 20s than he should, he should be made aware that 20s are just for looks and provide absolutely no performance gains just the opposite... If what he wants is looks and could care less about performance than great...

The best thing for our fellow RX8 owner is for him to be informed...

 

Kel is the man to talk to about putting 20's on the rx-8. He did it and the car looks great. the rear tires are also wider in the back. your best bet is to P.M. him. He can help you out with whatever questions you have.

 

in australia there are a few rx-8s with 20" wheels. one shop I spoke with recomends 20 x 8.5 all round with a +42 offset they also do 20 x 10 on the back but didn't give an offset.

 

I'd kick my own a$$ if i were stupid enough to ride around on 20's in the RX-8...I mean come on, really....what is the point except to fullfill your lust of vanity..hey look at me ..i can afford 20's...whoopity freakin doo!!!...there ugly on an everyday rider...show is much different than street...i don't care what anyone says...20's will significantly reduce your performance....even if your not performance oriented...the gas mileage is bad enough as is...those wheels way a few lbs. more than stock and gheez...if 19's weren't pushing the limit your seriously asking for some tire squeeze...pot hole + 20's = less bling/more tires..

do your self a favor...buy the 19's...or 18's even...

i agree with the performance and thats about it
i have done a pull one night with mark(polak) and yes he pulled away from a roll on.but i was amazed with a passenger and my weight on my car that night that i would even keep up.but thats another story.

for myself and my opinion only...i think 20's+ are stupid...the simple fact they;re to big and scream HEY LOOK AT ME!!

 

20" = appx -4 HP at the wheel. This car is HP challenged enough, in my opinion.

If you buy an RX-8, you buy a car that screams "Look at me." I will admit, especially from a mangers' point of view, that some of you guys don't know how to say things to people. Understand that they want general fact (slight opinion). If you are not respectful to people, it does come back to bite you.

I know sometimes people type stuff and don't mean attitude, but it sure shows it. Just be a little more curtious. I am disgusted (general fact, slight opinion) by some of the way some you guys chastize people. Like you hate them just because they want to discuss something.

i think 20' is for a luxury car not for a sports car , no ofence kel, you know you're my boy, but i think 19'' it's the right side for a rx-8

here's my opinion on my car
its slow yes its the slowest car i have ever had and i had a 95 integra last yr for winter driving aka frankenstein.other than that i have had just about ever super car out there.but 1st time i ever drove the 8 was a old friends car,
she let me run her car against my s4 that my boy drove.and i was surprised it kept up and started to pull away on the highway.that and i got the wankel wake up call again.but i never went into this car thinking i will get massive power or road race the 8.i can care less
i plan on getting another fd which i plan on having just for performance again.

I like the attention the car gets but i dont look for it or compliments.
i would of never posted pixs of my car or any info on the wheels to fame myself.i only did it to help other members that were intrested in the same style,setup.and by the looks of it i have helped a few members and im proud of that.

but dont worry guys i understand where you are coming from
20" wheels were the **** 2-3 yrs ago every truck i knew use to have some 20"
so the stereo type of wheels DUBZ is huge now in everyone's eye.
