Just purchased Rotora slotted rotors
Never heard of the brand before but their website (www.rotora.com) lists a large selection of applications so I guess they have a good rep.
Anyway I made the purchase through www.i-m-racing.com. I purchased the JIC coilovers through them and they're a good company to deal with. They don't list the OEM fitment Rotora rotors but since they list a Rotora upgrade kit I thought I'd call and ask. Turns out they can order the direct replacement slotted rotors.
www.vividracing.com sells the set for $440 plus tax and shipping.
www.hopupracing.com sells the set for $409 plus tax and shipping.
www.i-m-racing.com has a price meet/beat offer and sold me a set for $400 + $45 shipping. No tax since they're in Arizona.
For reference, OEM rotors from Trussville cost $468.

New rotors are same size as stock. They are direct replacements.
I don't know when I'll replace the rotors. I bought them (and a new set of pads) as insurance in case a) I can attend the Laguna Seca event and b) the pads/rotors need replacement afterwards. The car has 22k miles and I don't know what normal rotor life is like.

I really doubt there is a significant difference in weight. Pads are OEM. It will be a couple months before Hawk has pads for the RX-8.

i have done a research on these for the last couple of days.
and hop up racing seemed the cheapest but im check the site you got yours from.
i just wish there were cheaper calipers or a cheaper brake kit.

This is great! I've been looking for a slotted stock-size brake rotor for my car; I'm switching to 17-inch SSR Mesh's, if I can find them.

Very simple, jack car up and place stands then remove wheels, calipers, brake rotors (The two fronts have two large set screws that are PITA to remove when they have been on for a while so use a large phillips bit a piece of wood to brace the wheel from turning and don't strip the head...) Put new rotors on then put everything back together... You will need a 14 and 17mm socket and the rest of the misc. stuff...

i like the rotora's but i'm hesistant because japanese steel is usually pretty crappy and the rotors made of this steel tend to warp easily... thats more of a general rule of thumb i was taught, i have no personal experience with rotora

cortc...FYI, JapanParts is closed on Monday, so you'll have to wait until tuesday...I like the AutoExe rotors better, but my -8 is red, so I think they're a better match...I'm waiting to hear back from them whether the price listed for the front and rear rotors is the price per rotor or per pair...

Just in case some one gets the wrong idea...unless you live in AZ you don't pay sales tax through us and we also price match and have for a while now. Also, check my posts in the vendor forum area. The prices I list there are always discounted from what we have on our website. Oh yeah, and were in AZ too! Not picking on you just pointing this out. Also, we are the wharehouse for HopUp racing and we drop ship all the products from here.
