Security system not very secure

I locked my keys in my trunk last week. I was 40 miles from home and my wife was another 40 miles away in the other direction, so the only other option I had was a locksmith. The guy told me that high-end cars may be a little troublesome because of the security system.

But he looked at my car and it was easy to get in. Prop the door a little bit, stick in a wire hook, and unlock the passenger door. The alarm went off. I went into the car and popped the trunk. The trunk opened! I was able to get my keys out of the trunk and get home.

Here's the thing. The guy told me that on a Lexus and other "high-end" cars, when the alarm goes off, the trunk release and electronic door locks are disabled. That makes a lot of sense. But the RX8 allowed me to open my trunk. While that was a life saver for me, it is also disappointing that the contents of my trunk are never safe.

As long as he can't start the car up with a bit of wire, I'm not going to worry about it.

The only way you can prevent convenient access to the trunk from the cabin is if you:

1) disable the driver side trunk release button via the switch inside the glove box
2) lock the glove box so nobody can access the trunk disable switch
3) lock the center panel of the rear backrests so nobody can reach into it from the back seats.

With that done, the only way to access the trunk at that point is to have the main driver's key and remote (gray valet key shouldn't work) or some lock-breaking / metal cutting tools.

Can the access panel in the back be opened with any key? or is it just the car key?
