Get smaller/light weight rims and tires.
Go on a diet ??
Replace rotors ( I think the ones available are lighter)
Intake
Exhaust

How much weight are you looking to remove, and what do you think the benefit will be?

If you are good with your hands, cutting and bending metal, you can shave a few pounds (whatever they are) by replacing steel brackets with aluminum. I've done this on my RX-7 - e.g. bracket holding turbo output pipe (cross-over pipe) was about 1-2 lbs - replaced with an aluminum one I made with simple bar stock - it was less than 1/2 lb.

If you look hard enough you will find examples all over the car. I wouldn't remove sound insulation or other comfort items. The object to me is to make the car "better" (same drivability and comfort with less weight). Basically doing the things Mazda deemed too expensive or time consuming for the production car - to cut weight.

Be carefull you do not compromise safety. Leave the heavy parts that brace seat belts and the front crash absorbtion system. Stick with simple obvious things and you can get lots of weight out.

 

Yea do all that and get lighter seats too.

 

you arent going to notice 10-15 lbs. most of the stuff that significantly reduces weight also reduces the functionality of the car. the interior, air bags, air con, etc all have significant weight. radios arent heavy, but speakers are. if you live in a warm climate, there are small batteries that work fine (i have a 15lb odyssey).

replacing windows with lexan, although this is illegal.

if you stripped out an rx8, you could probably get 600+lbs off the car, and then you dont need the turbo anymore

Somebody refresh my memory: Didn't GRM have an article about a year ago that compared un-sprung and sprung weight reductions and which gave the best performance gain for each pound shed?

I would look at lighter wheels, tires and rotors for the best bang for the buck to get rid of un-sprung and reciprocating weight to aid in acceleration and handling. But I also understand that ripping stuff off the car is a whole lot cheaper....
